Johannesburg is home to one of South Africa’s most unusual dining experiences, where guests can enjoy a meal while suspended approximately 45 to 50 metres above the ground.Known as Sky Dining South Africa, the experience transforms an ordinary breakfast, lunch or dinner into an adrenaline-filled luxury event, with diners seated around an open-air table lifted high into the sky by a crane.
The concept is based on the internationally recognised Dinner in the Sky experience, which has operated in cities around the world. Guests are secured into specialised seats using four-point safety belts before the entire dining platform is raised into the air.Once elevated, diners are surrounded by 360-degree views, creating a unique perspective of the Johannesburg skyline while food and drinks are served.The experience is designed to remain exclusive, with each flight accommodating a maximum of 22 guests, alongside three staff members who remain on the platform to serve diners.
According to the supplied information, the operator can conduct approximately eight lifts per scheduled event day, potentially accommodating around 176 guests in a day when all sessions reach capacity.The attraction is located at the Higher Ground Restaurant at St Stithians College in Bryanston, Johannesburg, adding an international-style adventure attraction to the city’s luxury tourism and entertainment offering.For visitors, Sky Dining offers more than just a meal.
