Our Team: The Excel Coding King Chris Swanepoel

Meet Chris, he is our Event Manager and Financial Administrator. Chris has been working in the event industry for 11 years, activating and executing numerous events, he also has a detailed Zombie Apocalypse plan complete with evacuation plans and daily rations of Skittles.

He believes that humans are social creatures and that they will always have a need to connect and gather, and that is why we have events. We have asked you how the “new normal” has changed your day to day routine and promised to share with you what ours looks like. Going from an office environment to a literal -> in-house work environment has had many pros and cons but we believe change is good and we have learned so much in the past 10 months.

Pro: We have adapted and learned to communicate with our teams way more effectively and thus increased our overall turn-around time. Con: We miss our colleagues and being able to have work hard – play hard office fun.

Thembi’s leadership and guidance through these rough and uncertain times has been nothing but extraordinary. She is a phenomenal leader who inspires, motivates and guides us to be pioneers in our industry, to be thought-leaders and challenges us to excel in everything we apply our minds to.

The only advice she can offer right now is for each of us to take gentle care of each other as colleagues. Everyone has experienced so much death, so much tragedy. She urges that we be supportive of one another during this strange time when we cannot even say goodbye to our departed in the normal manner we are used to and have to adjust to the abrupt end of so many friends and family.

She says in this way, when the markets normalize, we would all take comfort in the fact that we are coming back together again not only as work colleagues but as a strong family that has bonded during the most trying times.
