Add a tent.

This area can give you extra space for a dance floor and bar, while the rest of your celebration flows through Oakdene.
And that's really what we love about this venue.
There isn't one prescribed way your wedding has to look.
Use the existing spaces.
Add what you need.

Bring your own ideas and suppliers.
Create the wedding that works for you.
Because sometimes the best venue isn't the one that tells you exactly what your wedding should look like.

Sometimes you don’t need to decorate the view.
You just need to frame it.

This is one of my favourite little corners at Oakdene.
Between the trees, with the Free State stretched out IN front of you, it doesn’t need much.
A little fabric.
A few chairs.
Maybe some flowers.
And two people standing right there, saying yes to the rest of their lives.
Simple can be absolutely beautiful.
And the best part?
This isn’t an AI concept of what Oakdene could look like.
This is Oakdene.
If your idea of a wedding is less about impressing everybody and more about creating a day that actually feels like you, come and have a look.

Whatever you can imagine, Oakdene can become...
Sometimes it’s difficult to look at an empty space and imagine what it could be.
So we had a little fun with ChatGPT. 😏
We took inspiration from Oakdene and asked:
“What could this place become for someone’s big day?”
And these were some of the ideas.
An intimate indoor ceremony.
A warm, candlelit welcome area.
A relaxed celebration under the Free State sky.
Or a simple country ceremony surrounded by trees and open views.
These are concept images, of course. But that’s the exciting part.
Oakdene is a blank canvas.
You don’t have to make your wedding look like somebody else’s wedding. Bring your own suppliers, your own ideas, your own style... and make the space yours.
And if you’re staring at an empty venue thinking, “I can see something here, but I don’t quite know how to put it together...”

And then Oakdene gives you THIS...

The last bit of light disappearing behind the fields.

Everything getting quieter as the day comes to an end.

No fancy setup. No decorations. No special occasion needed.

Just one of those moments when you stop what you're doing for a minute and look.

There are certain smells that make people suddenly VERY interested in what's happening in the kitchen...

And something smoking slowly for hours is definitely one of them.

At Oakdene, a function isn't only about what the place looks like.

Because eventually everybody wants to know the really important thing:

What are we eating? 😂

Good food, plenty of it, people sitting around a table and nobody in a particular hurry to leave.

Now THAT sounds like a proper gathering to us.

Not every window needs a view.

Some of them ARE the view.

Faded wood, old hinges, peeling paint and years of character that you simply can't manufacture.

You'll find little details like this all around Oakdene.

We could replace them. Paint them. Make everything look newer and neater.

But then Oakdene wouldn't quite be Oakdene anymore.

Sometimes the imperfections are the interesting bits.
And this old window is staying exactly where it belongs.

Sometimes you don't realise how much noise you're used to until there isn't any.

No traffic rushing past. No buildings blocking the horizon. No city sounds competing for attention.

Just open farmland, a little dam in the distance and a Free State sky that seems to go on forever.

That's Oakdene.

And perhaps that's part of what makes celebrating out here feel a little different.
For a few hours, everyone gets to leave the usual rush somewhere else.

You arrive.
You switch off.
You spend time with your people.

And the rest of the world can wait a while.

Before everyone arrives...

The chairs are waiting, the last little things are being put into place and for a few minutes, everything is quiet.

Then the cars start arriving.

People find their seats. Families greet each other. Someone is inevitably looking for someone else. And suddenly this quiet little spot becomes part of somebody's story.

That's what we love about hosting functions at Oakdene.

One day it's simply a peaceful place under the trees overlooking the Free State farmland.

The next, it's where people gather for something they'll remember for years.
Oakdene, where memories are made.

Now... what would YOU do with all this space?

One thing Oakdene certainly isn't short of is room.

A big open lawn gives you options that don't necessarily have to fit inside four walls.

An outdoor ceremony. Drinks before the reception. Lawn games. A birthday celebration. Tables outside on a beautiful day. A place for the kids to run around while the adults catch up.

Or perhaps you have an idea we haven't even thought of yet.

That's the nice thing about having space.
You don't have to use it the way somebody else did.
You can look at it and think, “What could WE do here?”

And we'd genuinely love to hear the answers.

You'd never guess what's behind those doors...

From the outside, Oakdene is wonderfully unassuming.

Stone walls, old doors, a weathered roof and a building that has been part of this Free State landscape for a long time.

Then the doors open.

Tables are dressed, lights are glowing, music is playing and the place is full of people celebrating something that matters to them.

That's part of Oakdene's charm.

We haven't tried to turn it into something shiny and new.

We've taken what was already here and given it another reason to be filled with people.
