So we provided sound and dj'd for a masquerade ball. Had a guitarist and a singer with back tracks performing. We used delayed speakers halfway down the hall. We used an EV Elx system with 2 x 18" bass and 2 x 15" tops on stage and FBT 12" X-Lite for the delays. The delays made a huge difference and seemed to be what was needed to fill the entire hall nicely with sound.

Interesting how things work out. I dj'ed at the first event at The Milestone many years ago. Here I was yesterday, for the first wedding ceremony in the brand new chapel at the Milestone. Beautiful setting.

In 1991, for the Technics Battle of the DJ's I practiced my set on a Pioneer PL100 (similar to the PL200 but belt driven) and a PL320. It ended in a runner-up position in the national finals in Durban (Palladium). Although a groove section, it contained a variety of technical presentation. Goes to show, determination trumps the lack of proper resources. Do with what you have and give it your best. You'll get there.
