On our Women's Month spotlight Meet Noluthando Nolwazi Zuma, a visionary entrepreneur, scholar, and community leader who embodies purpose-driven impact.

As the Founder & CEO of UThando LoMatomela Events in Pietermaritzburg, KZN, Noluthando has transformed her love for event planning into a business that delivers unforgettable weddings, birthdays, corporate events, and community programmes infused with heart, professionalism, and cultural pride.

Armed with a master’s in management sciences (Public Admin) and currently pursuing her PhD in Business Administration at DUT, she balances academia with entrepreneurship and service. She’s served as an Academic Advisor, Student Resident Assistant, and now Co-Chairperson of the DUT innobiz EDHE SWEEP Executive Board, advocating for innovation, gender equity, and youth entrepreneurship.

Her journey began during undergrad, as a young mother planning kiddies’ parties to support her daughter. With passion and persistence, she registered her company in 2023 through innobiz DUT. Today, she partners with local suppliers to boost township economies uplifting others as she rises.

In her words:
“I started with what I had and where I was. Passion and necessity pushed me to create something meaningful.”

In 2024, she was honored with the Student Services Silver Award (Emerging Entrepreneur). Through SWEEP, she mentors young women, proving that visibility and representation matter.

Today, Student Housing & Residence Life PMB celebrates and recognises the resilience of Noluthando Nolwazi Zuma. Nolwazi holds a Diploma in Human Resources and Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management. Noluthando is a mother, a sister to his brothers and a CEO for Uthando LoMatomela, a company she founded that is based in KwaMncane, Elandakop in KwaZulu Natal. Uthando LoMatomela offers decorations, tents and chairs hiring for household and corporate events.

Noluthando's passion and commitment in student growth and development was born after she was entrusted with a responsibility of being a Corridor Representative, she then served as Student Residence Assistant(SRA), Assistant Residence Advisor, and has served as a Resident Advisor for 4 years. In the last 4 years, Noluthando has been advising the Qhakaza Ladies Network Executive and built a solid foundation in leadership and student development where she championed Women empowerment and community upliftment.

In 2024, Uthando LoMatomela earned 2nd place in the DUT Student Services Awards as she was nominated in the Emerging Entrepreneur Award category, appointed as the Event Officer for the DUT Innobiz EDHE SWEEP Executive Board. She was appointed again to serve as Co Chairperson in 2025, driving innovation, entrepreneurship and support for women in business at Higher Education. Noluthando's commitment and dedication to students development was witnessed at the 2024 Heritage Festival where she was representing 253 Alexandra Residence Choir along with her students, their residence choir became winners of the competition.

Her belief in education as a weapon to transform communities, fight inequality and poverty was witnessed during the 2025 DUT Autumn graduation as she was graduating for the Masters Degree in Management Sciences, specialising in Public Administration. Nolwazi is currently serving as an Academic Advisor for CELT, a Residence Advisor for Maude Cluster and an Advisor for the Qhakaza Ladies Network Executive. She is now pursuing her PHd in Management Sciences, specialising in Business Administration.
