EDGAR LEGOALE FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF MS TSHEPO MOHAPI AS ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER OF THE NGWATHE EXPERIENCE

16 October 2026
Parys, Free State

The Edgar Legoale Foundation is pleased to officially announce the appointment of Ms Tshepo Mohapi as Assistant Project Manager of the Ngwathe Experience, marking another important step towards strengthening the management, administration and operational efficiency of one of the Foundation’s flagship initiatives.

The appointment forms part of the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to building a more structured, accountable and sustainable operational framework as the Ngwathe Experience continues to grow in scale, reach and impact.

Following the successful hosting of the Ngwathe Spring Experience in September 2026, which brought together tourism, business, sport, entertainment and community development activities, the Foundation has undertaken a comprehensive review of its operational systems, departmental coordination and overall event management processes.

The review has reinforced the importance of strengthening internal administration, improving communication between departments, ensuring adherence to implementation deadlines and establishing clearer systems of accountability.

Ms Mohapi’s appointment is a direct response to these operational priorities.

In her new capacity, Ms Mohapi will work under the leadership of Ms Nthabiseng Molejane, Project Manager of the Ngwathe Experience and Foundation Manager of the Edgar Legoale Foundation, whom she will assist in the overall management and coordination of the Experience.

Her primary responsibility will be to lead and oversee the administrative component of the Ngwathe Experience across all departments, ensuring that operational plans are supported by effective documentation, reporting systems, administrative controls and coordinated implementation.

Her responsibilities will extend across artist management, accreditation, ticketing, VIP and VVIP hospitality, supplier administration, safety and compliance documentation, marketing and communications support, stakeholder coordination, logistics, departmental reporting and the management of the Experience’s Master Implementation Checklist.

The Foundation wishes to emphasise that this appointment is not limited to the upcoming Ngwathe Summer Experience, but extends to the entire Ngwathe Experience programme, including its festivals, business engagements, tourism initiatives and other associated events.

As part of the strengthened management structure, the Office of the Chairperson, represented operationally by the Executive Assistant to the Chairperson, Penny Tshabalala, will continue to provide executive coordination and oversight support across the Experience’s operations, working closely with the Project Manager and the broader management team.

The Foundation is equally pleased to confirm that preparations for the Ngwathe Summer Experience, scheduled for 19 December 2026, are progressing through a structured implementation process.

Following the Spring Experience, departmental reviews and planning engagements have been prioritised to address operational challenges, strengthen service delivery, improve guest experiences and ensure greater coordination among artists, suppliers, security personnel, hospitality teams, vendors and other stakeholders.

The Foundation remains committed to ensuring that lessons learned from previous events translate into practical improvements, particularly in the areas of accreditation, access control, infrastructure readiness, hospitality, departmental communication and administrative accountability.

The Ngwathe Experience remains more than an entertainment platform. It is a growing initiative aimed at promoting tourism, stimulating local economic activity, creating opportunities for small businesses, supporting local talent and positioning Ngwathe as a destination for investment, culture and opportunity.

Through appointments such as this, the Foundation continues to invest in the internal capacity required to deliver these objectives effectively.

The Office of the Chairperson welcomes Ms Mohapi into her expanded leadership role and expresses confidence in her ability to contribute towards improved administrative discipline, stronger departmental coordination and the continued professionalisation of the Ngwathe Experience.

The Foundation calls upon all departmental heads, partners, service providers and stakeholders to extend their cooperation and support to Ms Mohapi as she assumes her responsibilities.

The Edgar Legoale Foundation remains committed to building an institution characterised by excellence, accountability, teamwork and meaningful community impact.

EDGAR LEGOALE FOUNDATION COMMEMORATES WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2026

Parys, Free State | 10 October 2026

The Edgar Legoale Foundation joins South Africa and the international community in commemorating World Mental Health Day, observed annually on 10 October, to raise awareness about mental health, challenge the stigma surrounding mental illness and reaffirm the importance of building communities where every individual can access support, care and understanding.

This year’s global theme, “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” calls for the experiences and voices of people living with mental health conditions to be heard, respected and meaningfully included in decisions that affect their lives. The campaign reminds us that mental health conversations must extend beyond awareness to listening, understanding and taking meaningful action.

Mental health is an integral part of human well-being. It influences how people navigate challenges, maintain relationships, participate in their communities and respond to the demands of everyday life. Yet, despite its significance, mental health remains a subject surrounded by stigma, silence and misunderstanding, preventing many people from speaking openly about their struggles or seeking the assistance they need.

For the Edgar Legoale Foundation, community development cannot be separated from the well-being of the people within our communities. Our commitment to youth empowerment, creating opportunities and building stronger communities requires us to acknowledge the emotional and psychological challenges that individuals, particularly young people, may experience as they navigate life, education, unemployment, family circumstances and societal expectations.

Behind every person is a story that may not always be visible. A learner who appears disengaged, a young person struggling to find direction, a colleague experiencing overwhelming pressure or a community member who has withdrawn from those around them may be carrying challenges that cannot be understood through appearances alone. This is why compassion, attentive listening and supportive environments are essential.

As a Foundation committed to “Creating a Brighter Tomorrow,” we believe that building a better future also means creating spaces where people can speak without fear of judgement, ask for help without shame and receive support without discrimination. Mental health challenges should never become a reason for an individual to be ridiculed, excluded or treated as less deserving of dignity and respect.

The theme for this year further reminds us that people with lived experience must not simply be the subject of conversations about mental health; they must be part of those conversations. Their experiences, perspectives and recommendations matter in shaping responses that are humane, accessible and responsive to the realities people face.

The Foundation encourages families, schools, workplaces, community organisations, faith-based institutions and community leaders to play an active role in promoting mental well-being. Sometimes, meaningful support begins with a simple conversation, the willingness to listen without judgement, the courage to ask someone how they are really doing, or the decision to guide a person towards appropriate professional assistance.

We must also recognise that seeking help is not a sign of weakness. Access to appropriate mental health care, early intervention and supportive relationships can make an important difference in the lives of individuals and their families. Communities have a responsibility to create environments in which people feel safe enough to seek the assistance they need.

The Edgar Legoale Foundation calls for greater compassion, responsible conversations and collective action towards a society that takes mental health seriously. We must move beyond acknowledging mental health on commemorative days and work towards making care, understanding and support part of our everyday interactions.

REMARKS FROM THE CHAIRPERSON AND FOUNDER

The Chairperson and Founder of the Edgar Legoale Foundation, Mr Edgar Legoale, emphasises the importance of recognising mental well-being as an essential part of building stronger individuals, families and communities.

“We cannot speak about creating a brighter tomorrow without recognising the importance of mental well-being today. Behind every individual is a story, and not every struggle is visible to the people around us. We must build communities where people feel safe to speak, where asking for help is met with understanding rather than judgement, and where no one is made to feel alone in their difficulties.

“Our responsibility extends beyond identifying challenges; it requires us to listen, to show compassion and to ensure that people are connected to the support they need. When we take mental health seriously, we strengthen not only individuals but also families and the communities we serve. Let us create a culture in which caring for one another is a shared responsibility.”

On this World Mental Health Day, the Edgar Legoale Foundation stands in solidarity with individuals and families affected by mental health challenges, those who are seeking help, those supporting loved ones, and those whose experiences have too often gone unheard.

May we become more willing to listen, more intentional in how we support one another and more determined to ensure that no person is made to feel alone because of their mental health struggles.

Every voice deserves to be heard. Every person deserves dignity. And every individual deserves access to care and support.
