Since Covid entered our lives and turned the world upside down, it made me re-evaluate life - I’m sure you can relate. We had The Constantia Fair, Milnerton Fair, Ratanga Junction and the best part was FREEDOM. I am a “stay-at-home-mom” with two children aged 3 and 5. I have only been employed for 5 years and have zero qualifications/ experience and understanding for the job. Beforehand I dabbled
in different jobs, based solely on my “Diploma in Dance UCT” qualification. I ran a small promotion company: Illegally Blonde. From this Front Row Entertainment grew, providing girls as promoters and hostesses. This event company progressed to include dance entertainment:
Creating Flashmobs for Unillever/ Nokia and New Media Publishing etc. We provided dance entertainment for functions, J$B Met, The Loerie Awards, The Africa Com Awards and more. I also Worked as a dancer on a cruise ship (Costa classica) and danced for IPL Cricket 20/20, Stormers Rugby. Then I started working as a inhouse Fit Model for Woolworths and Triumph (not “modeling"- basically you are a live mannequin/ dummy). Ran the Mexican Shebeen during FIFA World Cup- if you went there you won’t remember ( you might remember the Bull Riding). Then I became a MOM.... wow. I tried to regain a bit of my previous life and started TINY DANCERS. A dance class for 3-6 year olds. I went to a kids party a few months ago and saw a entertainer (dressed up as a fairy, entertained the kids for a hour) and got paid R1800 ) I thought- I can do that! It’s basically what I do every day! So why not have a mini funfair, about 2 hours.. I can teach some find dance and have some jumping castles and maybe a few other things.. seemed easy enough. And from there things are growing. Funfairs, kids winter parties and events. So watch this space!
