Hi everyone
According to inside information from politicians, doctors and an epidemiologist, it seems like it will be a minimum of 6 months before the worst parts of Covid 19 will be over in South Africa.
They presume that August 2020 is when we should be out of the red zone. It was mentioned that this virus will go on for about a year globally.
The number of infections in SA are also expected to spike in the next 10 days as this virus travels extremely fast.
It could also take up to a year to develop a vaccine for this virus, as it takes a long time to test vaccines to determine whether it is safe for human use. The epidemiologist has also mentioned that they may not even develop a vaccine and wait for this to blow over, as was done with the SARS outbreak 15 years ago. 15 years later and still no vaccine.
The doctors who have provided me with some intel are from Europe, the UK and Australia and they advise that we take social distancing very seriously.
The medications that have been used to treat the corona virus are medicines that are used to treat diseases and viruses like malaria and HIV, so that further emphasizes how serious this virus is. It is not a flu. These medications have not been completely effective though as it is not designed specifically for the corona virus.
To those of you who depend on events to make an income, please try to find an alternative source of income as it seems that we may go months without being allowed to have any events. We have to get creative here and I think the artists, musicians, event organizers, chefs etc need to come together to figure out how we’re going to get by. Be open to sharing ideas with each other. Creatives, stick together!
I’ve tried to sum everything up in the simplest way I can so that everyone may understand it. Nothing mentioned is definite but just a projected timeline.
Also, don’t be inconsiderate and empty shelves in supermarkets. Supermarkets and factories will still stay open throughout, but if you’re a simpleton which empties shelves for no reason, that puts pressure on factories and suppliers which may cause an unnecessary delay in production meaning your fellow South Africans go without certain items just because you’re acting like a savage. Take only what you need.
