Where an Old Wool Shed Begins to Tell a New Story…🤍

At Rusoord lies a remarkable piece of history.

The Wool Shed was built in 1952 by Grandpa J.H. Moolman, during a time when the Karoo was experiencing a wool boom. For almost 70 years, the shed opened its doors only four times a year for the shearing of sheep.

Then came 2021… and Covid changed the world.

A friend asked whether her daughter might be able to have her wedding in the old Wool Shed. There was simply nowhere else where they could host a large reception.

And so, the very first wedding ever held at Rusoord took place.

That day, a new dream began.

Marlize, owner of Rusoord Venue & Guesthouse, decided to transform the old Wool Shed, step by step, into a unique wedding and function venue - a place where her own four daughters could one day celebrate their weddings too.

And the best part?

The Wool Shed never stopped being a Wool Shed. 🐑

During shearing season, the venue is still used to shear sheep and goats. Once the last sheep has been sheared, everything is packed away… and the weddings begin again.

This is Rusoord.

There is no ordinary white wedding here.
