This thing of “book me, I’ll book you” has really changed the game in the DJ industry.
Some of us are not resident DJs anywhere, and even some resident DJs don't have the power to book whoever they want because management controls the budget and bookings.
I honestly wish we could go back to choosing talent, hard work, and the ability to entertain a crowd rather than relying on favors and exchanges.
The confusing part is that some DJs get booked at your establishment, yet they are not residents anywhere themselves and cannot return the favor. But when it comes to booking others based purely on talent, some opportunities disappear.
Let's have an honest conversation and find a solution. The industry grows when opportunities are shared fairly, not only through connections.
Let's push talent, support one another, and keep the culture alive. 🔌🎧

There are a few hard facts you must accept as a DJ. There are some certain gigs/events that are not for you and there are certain venues you won't play at, for various reasons like: They don't think you're good enough. The promoter ufaka abangani bakhe k'phela. Awuthengi i'skelem. They are jealousof you. They are threatened by you and uzoba thathela ispaan, you chowed the promoter's or resident DJ's girlfriend/boyfriend, etc.

But that shouldn't stop the fire that's in you. Focus on the support you receive and keep it moving.🫶🔥
