Statement of the African Transformation Movement
Ward 120, Lenasia South, City of Johannesburg Region G

For Immediate Release
Date: 2 November 2024

ATM heard the cries of the community, and delivered on their promises

We as the African Transformation Movement (ATM), a self-funding political party ensures that the communities voices are always heard. We provide dedicated and honest service to the entire community.

On Saturday, 2 November 2024, our Ward 120 ATM members visited the Siphosakhe Community Centre in Hospital Hills Informal Settlement, Lenasia South to donate 3 Jojo water tanks and vegetables and groceries to the soup kitchen team in the settlement.

Ward 120 ATM representative Servant Mpho Seleso has a history of making a difference by ensuring the community's needs are heard and receiving necessary support from our party. This is not the first time she has taken such actions.

ATM, as a self-sustaining entity, persists in making an impact and holds the belief that achieving the impossible is attainable. We don't promise anything we can't deliver on. We fulfil our commitments.

Speaking to Servant Seleso she said it is a privilege to be at the community centre giving Jojo water tanks, vegetables, and groceries for the soup kitchen. There is a high demand for these water tanks in the community because of the urgent situation faced by residents who are lacking water. This is the third occasion, not the first, in which we are giving to those in need.

ATM City of Joburg Regional Chairperson and Councillor Lubabablo Magwentshu said we as the African Transformation Movement (ATM) we are here in Ward 120 in the City of Johannesburg. We are here in the response to the cries of the communities during our campaign trail. When we were campaigning for the national elections we met people who were saying that they have a problem with water, they do not have water tanks. They also raised the concerns about not having enough toilet facilities.. As a self-funding group, we promised the community that we would return once we had received support, and we accomplished just that. We gave back to the community in response to what they wanted.

Magwentshu thanked a community member who shared how anxious he was the night before, unable to sleep, and tormented by the question of whether the ATM party would deliver or if they were just making false promises like all the other parties. However, since we recognise that our goal is to serve our community, ATM does not make false promises without fulfilling them.

Siya Gugwana, a community leader in Hospital Hills, thanked the ATM team for their donations. We appreciate all the help and contributions you have made to us, especially as a new party that always goes above and beyond to support us. Whenever we need assistance, we can always count on ATM to be there for us. I have been in this place since 1996 and in order for us to obtain things, we always have to struggle, but with ATM there is no need to fight.
