Busta Rhymes has always put out well thought out albums though. Even his least popular works are better structured than those of many of his peers.

There is something refreshing about an artist that takes time to create meaningless and carefully curated works of art.

🎧 Album of the Day: Busta Rhymes – The Coming (1996)

Before the blockbuster videos, platinum plaques, and rapid-fire flows that became his trademark, The Coming announced that Busta Rhymes had officially arrived as a solo force. Fresh from his time with Leaders of the New School, he delivered an album packed with explosive energy, animated delivery, and lyrical acrobatics that still sound fresh three decades later.

From the undeniable anthem “Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check” to gems like “Everything Remains Raw,” “Ill Vibe,” and “It’s a Party,” the album balances raw boom bap, jazz-infused production, and Busta’s larger-than-life personality. Production from DJ Scratch, Easy Mo Bee, The Ummah, and others provides the perfect backdrop for one of hip hop’s most distinctive voices.

For me, this is one of those records that captures a moment when originality was everything—every verse unpredictable, every ad-lib unforgettable, and every track bursting with creativity. A debut that not only launched a legendary solo career but helped define the sound and spirit of mid-90s hip hop.

Last night was more than an event.

From the DJs, artists, photographers, media teams, vendors, sponsors, and every single person who walked through the doors, thank you. Your presence, energy, and contribution helped create something truly special.

What stood out most wasn’t just the music-it was the conversations, the connections, the mutual respect, and the genuine love for Hip Hop that filled every corner of the venue. For a few hours, we weren’t strangers. We were a community united by a culture that continues to inspire, educate, and bring people together.

The depth of last night cannot be measured by attendance numbers or social media posts. It was felt in every handshake, every head nod, every verse, every set, and every moment shared.

Thank you for believing in Boom Bap and for helping us prove that authentic Hip Hop culture is alive, thriving, and worth preserving.
