🌍🦏 Today is World Rhino Day 🦏🌍
Did you know that White Rhinos have one of the longest pregnancies in the animal kingdom—lasting 15 to 18 months? When their calves are born, they already weigh between 40–65kgs, and these little ones stay by their mother’s side for two years or more.
Their iconic horn is made of keratin—the very same protein found in our hair and nails. And yet, despite the incredible progress humanity has made in 2025, these majestic animals are still being poached. So far this year, 195 rhinos have been killed—that’s almost one a day.
💔 How do we stop this?
Today, we not only raise awareness but also extend a massive thank you to the dedicated people working tirelessly to protect these gentle giants. You are the true heroes keeping hope alive for future generations.
🦏✨ These are three of my favorite rhino images, each with a story close to my heart.
1 – Sharing my passion across generations is something I’ll always treasure. Watching Luna share a tender moment with my 90-year-old grandmother was one of the most incredible sights I’ve ever witnessed.
2 – The same Luna, just 9 hours old. To see and capture a rhino so young is an experience I will forever hold close to my heart.
3 – This image marked a turning point in my career, winning the Wilderness Safaris – Conserving Africa’s Wildlife photographic category in 2019. It gave the Sidekick and me the unforgettable opportunity to spend time at Victoria Falls.
