As May is the International Month of Staff Recognition, it was only fitting to tell a story of our newest additions to the HISIDER team... KAYLA & ISABEL:

✓ Wrong RSVP data
✓ Ramadan dates over our event dates shifting attendance across every city
✓ Cape Town needed to accommodate an additional 250 delegates… in a week where the Mother City had almost nothing left.

That was Kayla & Isabel’s first event with us.

A four-city roadshow for a major brand, where we threw everything at our new-bees.

And did we mention… they had only been with HISIDE for six weeks.

Kayla and Isabel arrived together.
We call them the package deal, but they couldn’t be more different. And that difference? That is their combined superpower.

Kayla owned the mornings. Quietly, warmly, with an attention to detail that made every delegate feel like the only person in the room.
Accommodation sorted. Transfers confirmed. Room changes were handled and all before the first coffee was sipped.

Isabel owned the nights. When the hours got long and the energy got complicated, she was the one holding it all together, calm, switched on, completely unshakeable, with a smile on her dial.

First light to last call. Every single day of that roadshow, everything was covered.

Six weeks in, and they were already showing us exactly who they are.

We didn’t just get lucky with the package deal.
We got very lucky.

May is the month of International Staff Recognition, so I felt it on point to tell a story of a HISIDER that started on one Level, and is now Leveling-Up... EMMA!!!

Emma Murphy is a Senior in our Accounts Department.
But she is anything but Senior... She is 25.
She also represents South Africa in Lawn Bowls.

Sounds unrelated. Until you watch her work.

Lawn Bowls is a precision sport. You read the surface, you account for every variable, you place the ball exactly where it needs to land, for the bowls before and ahead of your play.

That is also exactly what she does with our Accounts Department. And very similar mastery to managing events...

Emma has wanted to step into Events for a while. HISIDE committed to making it happen when the handover in Accounts could be done properly.

Zanzibar was the moment she got her chance.

So, we were in the middle of this particular incentive trip when Tanzania's government decided to cut power and cellphone connections in response to elections. Zanzibar shares those towers.

Imagine two hundred guests with no Wi-Fi and no signal.

And somewhere at home, their families were reading deeply unsettling news about the region.

Emma had been given budget management on that trip. She took that on, and also then did something else entirely.

She aided unsettled clients with a communication lounge at the hotel reception. Sourced satellite phones and she invited guests in before bedtime to call home, and settle their loved ones. Em handled every single conversation with the kind of calm that stops panic before it even starts.

Nobody's family spent that night worried. And guests were loving the unplugged vacation of their dreams.

The guests (well-travelled, seen-it-all people) came back saying that it was the best incentive experience of their lives.

Emma will tell you she just did her job. I will tell you she found her calling (even when the phones weren't).

We are all so glad the timing was just so right. Here's to many more Level-Up moments ahead Emz! 🌞

As May is the month of International Staff Recognition, it was only fitting to tell a story of our HISIDER... Luke: during his birthday week!

Some people do the job.
Others raise the bar on what the job even is.

is firmly in the second category.

When he stepped back into the HISIDE world, this time as GM of Beyond Teambuilding, it already felt like a full-circle moment.

Once a HISIDER, always a HISIDER.

But what he has done since is something else.

Take a recent incentive trip to Zambia.

On paper, it was a fishing trip.
In reality, it became something far bigger.

Yes, Luke knows his craft; he is a world-class fly fisherman with deep technical knowledge.
But that is not what made the difference.

It was the way he showed up.

Every detail mattered.
Every guest mattered.
Every moment was treated like it could be that pivotal memory.

He didn’t just run a trip, he curated an experience:

Reading the room and adapting in real time.
Elevating the experience for both die-hard fishermen, and those who favoured the cultural experience of the destination.
Obsessing over the small things most people would miss.
