Situated on the Morrells estate amidst neatly trimmed gardens, stands Morrells Farmhouse built in the late 1800’s by the early Dutch settlers. This was the first house built in Northcliff, a then dairy farm, which has now been lovingly restored by Mike and Bernice Morrell into an elegant retreat with seven beautifully decorated en suite bedrooms complete with the original wooden floors and pressed ceilings. Morrells Farmhouse exudes vintage charm of a bygone era.

We sold the Morrells buildings bought in Ballito, KZN in an attempt to be closer to our daughter and grandsons. We have renovated and decorated for the last two years always with a view to share.

What we didn’t expect was to fall quite so hard. The warm ocean, tropical days, salty air and barefoot living quietly worked their way into our hearts — and never left.

Although life has shifted, my love for hospitality remained, creating beautiful spaces where people can connect and memories can be made ( in this case preferably with a drink in hand, with nowhere to rush off to).

So, today we’re sharing a first look at our luxe coastal studio cottage for two. It’s calm and unhurried inside, yet right in the festive hub of Shaka’s Rock — just 170 metres from the beach. Morning coffee on the deck watching the sun rise over the ocean, beach walks, a croissant at Salt Café…

The coastal cottage itself is spacious open-plan kitchen, lounge, dining with a en suite king bedroom that leads to an outside shower for two and bath under the stars( best enjoyed without checking the time ). Plunge pool with spiral staircase that leads up to a look-out deck with ocean views, comfy loungers, dining for two, and an upstairs braai for long, lazy evenings.

The main house will come next (we promise), but for now this luxe coastal cottage is all about easy, romantic coastal living — perfect for anniversaries, Valentine’s escapes, or a spontaneous getaway just because, it’s just the two of you!
