Introducing: Monthly Photographic Visits to NCCR Wonder Steam
We are excited to introduce a new monthly photographic experience at NCCR Wonder Steam, beginning with two visits in October 2026 — Saturday, 17 October and Saturday, 31 October.
We’ll start bright and early at the depot, where we’ll have the opportunity to photograph the locomotive(s) as they prepare for the day’s journey to Irene. From the first signs of life in the shed to the raising of steam and the preparations for departure, this is a chance to capture a steam locomotive coming to life.
There will also be opportunities to photograph the crews at work, creating environmental and portrait images that tell the story behind the locomotive and the people who keep her running.
At approximately 09:30, those who wish to continue with us will follow the train along the route, capturing it from selected locations along the way. Depending on the running of the train and conditions on the day, we anticipate two to three photographic opportunities.
Want to ride the train too?
Train travel is available separately. A booking link will be provided to participants should you wish to book a seat on the train. Please note that train tickets are not included in the photographic visit and must be booked separately.
Refreshments
Refreshments will be available for purchase on site, so you can grab something to eat or drink while enjoying the morning's railway activity.
If you would like some guidance with your photography, our co-founder, James Attwell, will be on hand throughout the experience to offer assistance, advice and ideas.
Limited to just 7 participants per visit.
Important: Closed shoes and a reflective safety jacket are mandatory.
