Artist’s Reflection on His Work |
I am a Johannesburg-based multidisciplinary
artist and printmaker. My practice explores themes of identity, spirituality, resistance, and collective memory. I work with both traditional and experimental printmaking techniques, creating politically engaged and deeply personal works that draw on lived experience, indigenous belief systems, and post-colonial critique.

Beyond the studio, I am a co-founder of Alphabet Zoo, a self-publishing zine collective that focuses on collaboration and visual activism. Through zine-making, I explore accessible forms of storytelling and distribution, often engaging with public space while
challenging hierarchies of authorship and art.

My work is strongly influenced by the Shembe Church, a syncretic spiritual movement rooted in Zulu tradition and reinterpreted Christianity. I explore the tensions between African cosmologies and colonial religious frameworks, using print, collage, and book
arts to reconfigure symbols, sacred texts, and ritual forms.
