Some venues you see. Others you feel. 🌿🌊
This weekend Skye Events went site-inspecting on the West Coast… and my heart is still there.
First stop: !Khwa ttu.
Just 70 km from Cape Town, you step into the living heartbeat of the San people — the first indigenous people of southern Africa. The San themselves walk you through their history, their knowledge, their languages, their quiet resilience. You feel it in the silence of the fynbos, in the stories told around the fire, in the deep sense that this land has never stopped belonging to them.
We stayed in a Hilltop Huisie — Swiss-inspired, stone and wood, fireplace crackling, ocean views stretching forever. Comfortable, characterful, and completely connected to the landscape. The next morning our eco-friendly bush safari guide brought the environment to life with knowledge, humour and genuine love for the land. It reminded me that sustainability doesn’t have to be ordinary. It can be beautiful. It can be meaningful.
Then we continued north to The Shark Bay Boutique Accommodation & Spa in Langebaan.
An hour from Cape Town… and a million miles from the noise.
Wide beaches. Untouched nature. A lagoon the colour of liquid turquoise. Fire-red sunsets. Kite surfers painting rainbows across the sky. Sometimes the only company you’ll meet is a leopard tortoise ambling past or a seal surfing the waves.
Fifteen beautiful rooms, private villas, a spa that feels like the ocean itself is healing you, a gourmet restaurant, wine cellar and conference facilities that still manage to feel intimate. Luxury that doesn’t shout. It whispers.
As an events planner, these site inspections are pure gold.
Because when a client asks me, “Nicole, would you recommend this venue?” I don’t want to answer from a brochure.
I want to say: I’ve been there. I’ve slept there. I’ve walked the grounds. I know what it feels like.
A venue isn’t just a room.
It’s the arrival.
It’s the view.
It’s whether your guests can finally exhale.
Whether the setting matches the vision you hold in your heart.
That is the value Skye Events brings.
I don’t simply collect venue names.
I experience them.
I ask the questions.
I look at the details.
And I build relationships — so that when you’re ready to plan your wedding, celebration, retreat or corporate event, I can help you choose with confidence.
Because your event deserves more than a venue that looks good online.
It deserves a place that feels right.
South Africa still has places where the land remembers who we are.
Where the first people still speak.
Where the lagoon holds the sunset like a prayer.
Where you can finally breathe.
!Khwa ttu and The Shark Bay.
Two very different kinds of magic.
Both pure West Coast medicine.
Who’s ready to pack the car and go?
The Skye’s the Limit.
