Chef SHANE SAUVAGE
Chef Patron La Pentola Restaurant, Hermanus
Shane has been in the restaurant business for 39 years. In 1995, he fulfilled the dream of opening his own restaurant with his partner Janet, La Pentola. With La Pentola as a platform, Shaneβs career soared and their partnership flourished to new heights raking up over 35 (and counting) local and international accolades and awards.
Shaneβs passion to teach and share his recipes led him to publish three books: The Edge of Fusion (2009), Infusion (2011) and Cape Fusion (2015). The latter two scooped up three international awards at the Gourmand Awards in Spain for Best Chefs Book (2011), Most Innovative Chefβs Book (2015) and Best South African Recipe book (2015).
Shane continues to share his passion and enthusiasm for food, wine and a dynamic ever-evolving industry in which he continues to train chefs and navigate the challenges of being an independent Chef Patron.
