A friendly note to fellow artists seeking bookings at events:
Its always best to express your interest early,ideally when the "save the date" is announced,not only after the line up has been released. By the time the line up goes public,most decisions have already been made based on the event's budget and strategy.
Adding someone to the line-up isn't just a matter of saying yes,it comes with costs: fees,flights,accomodation and sometimes extra crew or travelling party not to mention technical and riders.
Organisers also have to think drinks balancing the line-up in terms of genre,gender,demographic,geography,and making sure audience gets a full experience without perfomance being rushed because the line-up got too long.
And to be honest,its a bit disheartening when someone asks to be added,but they've never shared a poster or supported the event in any visible way.
This isn't a complaint-just honest,constructive advice.
