The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has upheld its 2022 decision to deny SpaceX’s Starlink $885.5 million in rural broadband subsidies.

The FCC cited Starlink’s failure to meet program requirements and its inability to demonstrate the promised service delivery.

SpaceX challenged the 2022 decision, but the FCC emphasized Starship rocket launch uncertainties and SpaceX’s failure to successfully launch it.

SpaceX expressed deep disappointment and argued Starlink is a top option for the rural internet program.

Two Republican FCC commissioners dissented, suggesting the Biden administration’s displeasure with Elon Musk influenced the decision.
