I could have never imagined how luxurious a tented safari could be until staying in this beauty with its own pool, outdoor shower and amazing attention to detail.

Leucism is often mistaken for albinism. It is a partial loss of pigmentation, which can make the animal have white or patchily colored skin, hair, feathers etc. The pigment cells in the eyes are not affected by the condition and often times animals will still have pigment around their noses.

Some days all it takes is perfect timing. If we had been 10 seconds earlier or later we would have missed this coalition of three big boys as they appeared out of a thicket and onto the road.

We stayed with them for a while as they leisurely walked up the dirt road and took turns marking their territory.

One of my favourite animals eating from one of my favourite trees. The k**b thorn trees had started to bloom and attract the girrafes with their pale yellow flowers, creating some awesome photographic opportunities.

Nature is beautiful but tough!I've always noticed how it brings out people's true colours. We climbed roughly 400m in altitude over 3.5km to reach the cave. Having been at sea-level just earlier that morning and finishing at 2500m above it meant that unfortunately altitude sickness played a role in our hike. We had to dig deep and manage our energy wisely. Taking each step as it came we trudged on, the thought of turning back never crossing our minds, even as some ominous clouds started rolling in. Looking back at the experience it was definitely the challenges we faced that made it so enriching and memorable and why we're already planning our next hike.

Arriving at Sleeping Beauty Cave is an experience in itself. You round a corner of tall rocks and then suddenly it just opens up and you immediately feel dwarfed. We slept in the smaller flat portion of the cave to the back right hand side which was sheltered from the cold wind. We had fresh water running right in front of us and couldnt have been happier with ourselves and what we had achieved that day.
