THE BROETJIES AND THE BRA UNITE
The Broetjie My Bra Collective has officially been revealed:
Jody Abrahams, Loukmaan Adams, Alistair Izobell, Emo Adams and the man behind the idea, David Kramer.
For the first time, the original performers who each portrayed the role of 'Broetjie' in District Six: The Musical now return as producers, coming together in a rare full-circle moment.
This year also marks a deeply significant milestone, 20 years since the passing of the late Dr Taliep Petersen, whose work with Dr David Kramer shaped the musical identity of theatre and gave a voice to a community that refused to be forgotten.
On 11 February 1966, more than 60 000 residents were forcibly removed from District Six during one of the most painful chapters in Cape Town’s history. 2026 marks 60 years since that displacement and this production honours that legacy making 11 February 2026 a historical date that cannot be separated from history.
Audiences can expect to hear the beloved songs of District Six performed on a larger scale than ever before, brought to life by an almost 30-strong cast.
