Abdul Aziz & Shameez | Part 2 of 3: The Foot of Chappies

Some of the best moments on a shoot aren’t on the plan.

We’d left Noordhoek Common and were heading up toward Chapman’s Peak to catch the sunset when the light started doing something we couldn’t ignore. Low, golden sun was breaking through the trees at the foot of Chappies, spilling across the road in long warm streaks.

There wasn’t time to think it over. We pulled over, jumped out, and made the most of every minute before it slipped away.

That’s the thing about golden hour in Cape Town: it doesn’t wait for anyone. You either catch it or you watch it go. Abdul Aziz and Shameez were game, and we’re so glad they were. 🌅

Cape Town wedding planning tip: build your portrait time around the light, not the clock.

Between the Atlantic wind and our long summer evenings, the most flattering light arrives roughly 45 minutes before sunset. Even twenty quiet minutes alone together then, with the mountain glowing behind you, often becomes the frame couples treasure most. Share your ceremony and dinner times with your photographer early so it can be woven into the day, with a sheltered backup spot in case the south-easter has other plans.

Abdul Aziz & Shameez | Part 1 of 3: Noordhoek Common

When Abdul Aziz and Shameez told us what they wanted for their afternoon shoot, the brief was simple but specific: somewhere with real shade to escape the harsh afternoon sun, and somewhere the light could fall away beautifully behind the mountains as the day ended.

Noordhoek Common gave us both.

We started under the old oaks, their twisted trunks and deep canopy keeping everything soft and cool while the afternoon was still bright. Shameez's bridal red against the autumn leaves was something else entirely. As the sun dropped lower, we moved out into the open fields, where the light came in sideways across the grass and old wooden fences, with the mountains watching quietly in the distance.

A slow, unhurried start to a beautiful day, and only the first chapter.

Wedding season has officially begun! After more than a decade of capturing celebrations across the Western Cape, there's still nothing quite like the buzz of a full summer calendar — and this season is shaping up to be one of our most beautiful yet.

We also recently took part in the W**elands Bridal Fair. It was wonderful meeting so many couples and fellow wedding professionals in person — if we crossed paths there, thank you for stopping by to chat!

Looking ahead

There are very limited dates still available over December, so if you or someone you know is planning a wedding, now is the time to get in touch.

We'll also be taking on a limited number of portrait shoots and events during the upcoming summer season — from family sessions to milestone celebrations — so early booking is recommended.

The skies had their own plans and the rain came down, but nothing could dampen this day. Vows were spoken before God and their loved ones, rings were exchanged, and two families became one. Then the celebration took over: umbrellas became props, laughter filled every corner, and the dance floor never stood a chance. ☔🎉

They say rain on your wedding day is a blessing. If that’s true, these two are set for a lifetime of them.

Two ceremonies, two faiths, and one couple who proved that love doesn’t ask you to give up where you come from. It simply makes room for both. 🤍
