Looking for a fun, active school holiday activity for your child in Cape Town? Our September/October holiday programmes are almost here — and there are still a few opportunities to join us!

Whether your child is new to horses or already an experienced rider, we have something for different ages and riding levels.

✨ PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE RIDING LESSONS

⏰ 8:15–10:30am
Perfect for beginners through to advanced riders. Choose a private or semi-private lesson and enjoy personalised coaching on one of our school horses.

🐴 LITTLIE'S RIDING COURSE | Ages 4–8

⏰ 9:00–11:30am
A gentle introduction to riding, horse care and stable life, with games and activities designed specifically for younger riders.

🤎 OWN YOUR OWN HORSE
📅 29 September–2 October
A deeper horse experience for more experienced riders, including riding, outrides, stable management, horse care and structured activities — all under the guidance of our experienced team.

☀️ SAVE THE DATE! Summer Camp 2026 is coming to Hout Bay! 🏄‍♀️🐴🚲🏕️

Get ready for 3 days of adventure and 2 nights under the stars at The Riding Centre, Hout Bay.

Our Summer Camp 2026 takes place 9th–11th December 2026 and is open to children aged 8–14.

With horse riding, surfing, SUP, mountain biking, sandboarding, camping and plenty of outdoor fun, it’s the perfect way to kick off the summer holidays.

🌸 A little reminder — our Spring Picnic is happening this Thursday! 🌸

Join us at Adventure Playground, The Riding Centre, Hout Bay from 3pm–6pm for an afternoon of fresh air, music, games and plenty of great company.

Bring your own picnic, blankets and whatever makes your perfect afternoon — while the kids enjoy the jumping castle and games.

☕ The Stable Shop will be open for eats and drinks, so you don't have to pack everything!

Our September Riding Course gives young riders a few days to settle into the rhythm of the stables — riding, learning, spending time with the horses and enjoying everything that comes with being part of the Riding Centre.

And it isn’t only for experienced riders. Our courses welcome children at different levels, making them a great introduction for those who are curious about horses as well as those who already can’t get enough of them.

September Riding Course
📅 1st & 2nd October
⏰ 08:30 – 12:00
🐎 Two rides each morning, with structured activities, games and plenty of time with friends and horses. Activities may include lessons, outrides, vaulting and gymkhana-style games.

We only have a handful of spots still available, so if you’ve been meaning to book, now’s the time!

For parents, it means one less thing to organise. And while your child is busy at the stables, you can enjoy a coffee or lunch at the Stable Shop, catch up on some work, or simply have a little time to yourself. ☕️

Not looking for a full course?

Private and semi-private riding lessons are also available 29th & 30th September, between 08:15 – 10:30 — ideal for riders who would prefer a more focused lesson or a little extra saddle time.

A school holiday adventure they’ll love… and you might too. 😉

Our Littlies Riding Course is two mornings of riding, games, outdoor fun, learning new things and making the kind of childhood memories that don’t involve a screen.

Designed especially for 4–8 year olds, it’s a chance for little ones to have their own adventure, make friends and enjoy some independence — all while in safe, experienced hands.

And parents? You’re welcome to settle in at The Stable Shop, grab something to eat or drink and enjoy a little downtime while we keep them happily busy. ☕️

This September, swap the usual holiday routine for horses, fresh air, new friends and a whole lot of adventure at The Riding Centre.

Our holiday programmes are designed for children who love being outdoors — whether they’re experienced riders or discovering the joy of horses for the very first time.

What’s on this September holiday:

Little’s Riding Course | 29 & 30 September
For riders aged 4–8 years. A fun, gentle introduction to horses, with riding, pony care, games and activities designed to build confidence and independence.

Own Your Own Horse | 29 September–2 October
For more experienced young riders who are ready to take their horsemanship to the next level. Riders will enjoy riding, outrides, stable management and hands-on activities while developing greater independence and responsibility.

September Riding Course | 1 & 2 October
For riders aged 8+, from beginner to advanced. Each morning includes two rides, plus lessons, outrides, vaulting and gymkhana-style games.

Private & Semi-Private Riding Lessons | 29 & 30 September
For beginners through to advanced riders, with personalised coaching to help children build confidence and develop their riding skills. Lessons available between 08:15–10:30.

If your child loves horses, animals, adventure and spending time outdoors, this is a holiday experience they'll be talking about long after the holidays are over.
