The last few days at the Associations World Congress 2026, have been an exceptional time in the Algarve, meeting with Association Executives from all around the world.

South Africa and Africa are hot on the lips of many people we spoke to and it’s so encouraging to hear the desire to host events on the continent.

The Welcome Reception and Congress Dinner was hosted at Tivoli Hotel in beautiful Carvoeiro, Portugal and it was on this spectacular backdrop that we met new association leaders and made new friends. The social events are where the real relationships are built!

Thank you to the region of Lagoa and Linda Pereira, Sara and Alexandrina for hosting this incredible event and for truly investing in the growth of associations and understanding the importance of association conferences and how they can impact the economy in a region.

There’s something powerful about bringing the women together in one room!

Yesterday, we had the privilege of attending the Women in M.I.C.E Breakfast at World Travel Market Africa — and what stood out most was the atmosphere and emotion in room when women come together!

Shared experiences, new friends, and tears shed (always 🤣) and it was a reminder that this industry is built on amazing women (and men) that go far beyond events.

There’s strong momentum building across our African partner network 🌍 Our recent session brought partners together to align on key next steps — from website updates and coordinated social media rollouts, to unlocking more association business opportunities across the continent.

We explored upcoming confirmed events (2026, 2027 and beyond), open opportunities, and practical ways to strengthen visibility for each destination through a more unified approach.

We’re also one step closer to launching our updated website, with partner profiles coming together and final elements being refined.

Most importantly, this session reinforced what makes this network work — collaboration, shared insight, and a collective drive to grow Africa’s business events footprint.
