Q: What’s your role at XL Millennium and how long have you been with the company?
Lesley: My role at XL Millenium is a accounts clerk, I have been with the company 3 years in December.

Q: What do you love most about working in travel/events/incentives?
Lesley: There is always something interesting happening in the industry. It a nice paced working environment. This industry is very fun and exciting especially with hearing from my colleagues about the destinations the traveling to.

Q: What’s been your favourite destination (work or personal) and why?
Lesley: I am Originally from Johannesburg, so I would have to say Cape Town even though I have been here most of my life. There is always something to find in this beautiful city.

Q: Which place is at the top of your travel bucket list?
The top of my list destination is South Korea.
Lesley: What is your secret talent or party trick?
I can mostly bake anything and I do makeup and artistic makeup for my churches dancing team.

Q: How do you stay calm under pressure?
Lesley: Listen to music and pray mostly. Everything has a way of working out. So just keep the faith and keep on going.

Q: What’s your role at XL Millennium and how long have you been with the company?
Rasheeda: Senior Travel Consultant, been with the company for 3yrs but feels like Ive been here forever😊. Its definitely become my β€œhome away from home”

Q: What do you love most about working in travel/events/incentives?
Rasheeda: In travel the energy is always a vibe, no two days are the same. The clients always put a smile on my dial πŸ˜‰

Q: What’s been your favourite destination (work or personal) and why?
Rasheeda: Ive just returned from Saudi Arabia , my heart is definitely there ❀️❀️

Q: Which place is at the top of your travel bucket list?
Rasheeda: Not sure of top of the list, but leaning towards Spain for the next adventure, watch this space!πŸŽ‰

Rasheeda: I don’t have a party trick, but I think my talent is running. I once ran from Durban-Pietermaritzburg for fun 😁(Comrades Marathon) 😁

Jannie: I am an IATA Inspector, qualified IATA BSP Trainer, Qualified Travel Industry Accountant, Travel Agents Board Accredited member, IATA/UFTAA qualified,
Qualified as Associate Member of the Institute of Travel management (AITM), Author of the BSP Advanced BSP Course and a known specialist of all the above
In the TC2 IATA world map. Furthermore I have worked with Auditing Firms to assist them understanding Travel Industry Accounting; including all the
Article Clerks. When Millennium Travel was a dream of Linda in the late 1990’s, she contacted IATA on how to start a Travel Agency. They gave her
My number. What followed was a few meetings with Linda, John, Grace & Nicole. I then helped them set up Millennium Travel and was on retainer with Millennium Travel from day one; working specifically with Grace to set up the Finance Dept, attending to IATA & BSP matters and coding the ACCPAC accounting software to accommodate separate accounting for The Travel & Conferencing Depts. So yip, been there when Millennium Travel was conceived 😊

*Q: What do you love most about working in travel/events/incentives?*

Jannie: I have been in Travel since 06 April 1976 and done it all. And studied it all. Eventually owned my own Traven Agency 1989 – 1996. Then divorced and became the only roaming IATA roaming Inspector, Trainer and BSP Expert whilst also implementing BSP in 5 African Countries, including Mauritius. I love all that I do and prefer the Finance side of the Industry now in the latter years. I resigned as a qualified Maintenance Fitter from VW Uitenhage in 1976 (earning a R1000.00 plus) at the time, and joined SARTravel (SAA) in the same year; starting with R 143.00 per month. Need I say more ?

Jannie: Always Mauritius & Namibia

*Q: Which place is at the top of your travel bucket list?*

Paradis Golf Resort & Spa; and other resorts on the west & north west coast of MRU

*Q: What’s your secret talent or party trick?*

Having trained more than 3750 Students in the Travel Industry, I have learned to be very alert and forward thinking to deal with them naughty students that are always out to corner the Lecturer. That and humour 😊

Immediate prioritising of steps to address a crisis; and pulling on the strengths of Team members if required. And a few deep breaths of course is the best fuel

Q: What’s your role at XL Millennium and how long have you been with the company?
Thembi: Senior Corporate Travel Consultant and I am nearly 3 years with this exceptional team

Q: What do you love most about working in travel/events/incentives?
Thembi: Planning business trips to destinations I’ve never been to, finding ways to reach those destinations and what one needs to equip themselves with before their visit
I get sense of pride when a trip run smoothly, and my client comes back with good feedback
Love the team spirit we have in the office, we work and play together
Love the interactions with have with our suppliers, how they jump in to assist where we get stuck

Q: What’s been your favourite destination (work or personal) and why?
Thembi: Italy - seeing some of the destinations I read about while I was at school
Loved visiting Florence and grabbing a slice of pizza and seat at the Piazza looking at people passing by
Visit to Venice and travel by boat to get to the airport for my flight back home
Enjoyed the cuisine and still cannot believe how the taste one 1 dish tasted differently to how we make it here at home.

Q: Which place is at the top of your travel bucket list?
Thembi: Etosha National Park

Q: What’s your secret talent or party trick?
Thembi: Seeing is believing

Q: How do you stay calm under pressure?
Thembi: Walk away from my desk and take a brief walk outside.

Q: What’s your role at XL Millennium and how long have you been with the company?
Thandiwe: I’m the Office Manager and a Senior Travel Consultant at XL Millennium JNB office and I have been with the company for 2 years and 3 months. My role allows me to wear many hats, from managing day-to-day operations to crafting exceptional travel experiences for our clients.
Q: What do you love most about working in travel/events/incentives?
Thandiwe: I love the energy and excitement that comes with the industry. Every day is different, and I get to be part of creating unforgettable journeys for people. Seeing the joy that travel brings β€” whether it’s a business incentive or a dream getaway β€” makes it all worthwhile.
Q: What’s been your favourite destination (work or personal) and why?
Thandiwe: Definitely Vietnam. The culture is so rich and fascinating, the people are incredibly friendly, and the cost of living is quite affordable. It’s a place where you can truly immerse yourself and still feel at home.
Q: Which place is at the top of your travel bucket list?
Thandiwe: Mexico! I’m drawn to the food, the vibrant culture, and the history β€” it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to experience firsthand.

Thandiwe: I block out all the noise , take a deep breath, break the situation down into manageable steps ,tackle one thing at a time and just focus. Concentrating on the task at hand helps me find solutions quickly and stay grounded when things get hectic.

Shanaaz: I’m a numbers lady all the way. I have a passion for accounting. But blending this love and immersing myself in the world of travel every day, listening to experiences and expanding my global knowledge makes me so happy.
Q: What’s been your favourite destination (work or personal) and why?
Shanaaz: Mauritius. It was my dream destination since grade 8 when I had to do a project on the Island. Millennium made that dream come true this year. Forever grateful ☺

Shanaaz: I do landscape photography.
