Reasons why you NEED a wedding coordinator !!!
After attending and coordinating a number of weddings, the one thing that is always clear is the need for a wedding coordinator.
You might say things like "the venue offers a coordinator ", "my aunt can do it" or "that's a waste of money". I've heard it all before.
Have you ever been to a wedding where the bride starts walking down the aisle and the wrong song plays? Or the drunk uncle's speech continues for longer than it should? Or perhaps the Grandma complains her seat is too hard or she's too cold?
While a venue coordinator is an excellent addition to any venue package, addressing personal matters unfortunately is not within their scope of duties.
An on-the-day wedding coordinator is the bride and the groom's eyes, ears and hands on their special day! It's your wedding day and you'll be the centre of attention. You'll be pulled in all different directions for photos, thanks, kisses, hugs and congratulations. Your wedding coordinator attends to any problems that arises that was not mentioned or planned for in the discussed schedule for the day. This can be the following:
- Your cake didn't arrive
- A table is missing from decor delivery order
- Your MC forgot to announce that the sparklers need to be lit for the couple's first dance etc, and many more!
If the wedding coordinator is not present, it can make special moments awkward and disorganized. Unfortunately this can also ruin the day for guests but most importantly, for the bride and the groom! If a wedding coordinator is not present, all the surprise problems that arise will unfortunately go directly to the bridal couple leaving them more stressed and nervous than ever before.
We definitely DO NOT want that.
What we do at Honour Agency:
We love to see our clients happy and most importantly, exceed their expectations in every way!
Before the wedding, we meet with the bridal couple multiple times. We are copied in to all the mails, get updates on every phone call regarding the day. We ask for family background, demographics of the guestlist, dietary requirements, disabilities etc. This is so that we know what to expect and prepare for it.
We get to know the MC, speak to the Pastor and the DJ's, and make sure everyone knows exactly what is expected of them. We set up a schedule for the day and jot down every single thing from the time the bride wakes up to the time the venue door closes (sometimes the bride prefers to create their own schedule which is also fine).
We save the numbers of the bridesmaids, mother's and photographers so that we know exactly where the bride and groom is at all times and if they're on schedule.
On the day, we get to know the guests, get to know the venue coordinator and all staff so that we work together as a well-oiled machine!
Slip ups and unforseen events are inevitable, but if we can avoid as many of them, we will do so.
A wedding does not have to be as stressful as it seems!
With good planning, and help from a wedding planner and/or an on-the-day wedding coordinator, it can really be a smooth process with lots of fun and joy!
