Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring mothers. Mother’s Day celebrates motherhood and is a day to make extra-special effort to give recognition and appreciate mother’s roles in our lives. This day is extended to generations of mothers, maternal bonds, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, mother in-laws, mother figures and the influence of mothers in society.

It's true: You may not need a special date on the calendar to encourage you to tell your mother how much you appreciate her. With all she's done for you, she deserves to be celebrated on a daily. As Mother's Day rolls around each year on a specific date, you'll likely be grateful for the reminder. What better opportunity to thoroughly, fully express your love to the woman who raised you and made you the person you are today?

Flowers, greeting cards, presents, historical narratives aside, there's something undeniably beautiful about the idea of setting aside an entire day to pay your respects to all mothers.
Mother’s always appreciate a meaningful gift or an at-home family lunch, but sometimes one of the best things to do on a Mother’s Day and reiterate "I love you", is to spend quality time with you mother in your own unique way.

FROM BEING THE RICHEST COMMUNITY TO THE POOREST COMMUNITY 😭

The area that is now known as Paarl was first and is still inhabited by the Khoikhoi. The Peninsular Khoikhoi people and the Cocoqua people live in this area divided by the Berg River Valley. The Cocoqua were cattle-herding people and among the richest of the Khoi tribes. They had between 16,000 and 18,000 members and originally called Paarl Mountain, "!hom ǃnāb/s" which means Tortoise Mountain.

The Khoi and the San

They were the first people to utilize the Drakenstein area. What is known today as Paarl Mountain, used to be called Tortoise Mountain by the KhoiKhoi. The Berg River Valley formed the traditional border between the coastal KhoiKhoi (the Gorachoqua and the Goringhaiqua) and the Cochoqua. The latter group moved their cattle around the various grazing areas of the Berg River- and Drakenstein Valley. The Cochoqua was one of the richest and strongest of the Khoi tribes and had between 16 000 and 18 000 members.

They were defeated during the second war between the colonists and KhoiKhoi and most of their livestock were taken. After the deaths of their leaders, the rest of the tribe dispersed. Some moved further inland and the rest started working for the colonists.

The so called coloured people are descendants of the Khoi-khoi and San Aboriginal nation of Southern Africa.
