I wanted to take a moment to make a slightly more personal post for our Team Blossom page. 🤍
Over the last few months, our family has experienced the loss of two special people — my dad’s uncle, and more recently, my uncle.
As florists, we have always carried immense sympathy and empathy for the families who come to us, trusting us to choose beautiful flowers to honour and celebrate the lives of their loved ones.
But experiencing that process personally was something quite different.
Having to physically choose the flowers for someone close to us was quite a “moment” in my floristry career. It wasn't just, “They would have loved this colour scheme,” or “This was their favourite flower.”
It became about what we could put together knowing that it was going to pay tribute to a life that had touched and impacted so many others.
It was choosing flowers knowing that what we were creating would be our own little tribute — our final goodbye.
And strangely enough, it was both therapeutic and heartbreaking.
It gave me a completely different understanding of what our clients experience when they stand in our shop making those choices for someone they love. I already understood the importance of what we do, but experiencing it from the other side made me understand it in a way I don't think I ever could have before.
Behind The Blossom Cottage are real people. We have families, we laugh, we celebrate, we struggle, and sometimes we grieve too. 🤍
Our flowers are present for some of life's happiest moments, but also for some of its hardest. And perhaps that is why this work means so much to us.
Thank you to every family who has trusted us with such an important part of their story. Whether we're helping you celebrate a life, say goodbye, or simply put into flowers the feelings that words can't quite express — it is something we never take lightly.
From our family to yours, with love. 🌸🤍
