Two things …

I’ll be batch making sausage rolls and veggie slices throughout September … which scarily is only next week 😮

These will be available uncooked and frozen for you to bake off as and when you like… by request I’ll be doing both with ‘potty mouthed’ GLUTEN FREE pastry (which follows the same recipe as per ‘normal’ sausage rolls but with gluten free flour … potty mouthed because it’s tricky to work with and makes me chunter quite a bit 🤣 … but as the conversation with a customer yesterday went … “I don’t look forward to making them but I’m always pleased with and feel rather proud of the results)

Secondly I’m cooking a 5-7 course Greek themed Bistro Meal for delivery on Saturday 26th Saturday.

The best of times in Sheffield today with my youngest granddaughter trying to see as many lions on the Pride of Yorkshire | Sculpture Trail as we possibly could … pleased to find the Dennis one 😍 … too many pictures to share but here are a few of my favourites 💚💚💚

Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to be batch making sausage rolls and veggie slices.

They will be available to buy UNCOOKED and frozen for you to bake at your convenience as and when.

Not really the best of weathers for pastry making and veggie slice baking but so far so good .

Some of my meat eating customers have said they prefer these to their sausage roll cousins 😮

It’s veggie all the way for the buffet I’m delivering tomorrow 😍

So the conversation with my fabulous Postie this morning was mainly heat related. He’s not in his van long enough to benefit from it’s air conditioning and my south facing kitchen isn’t overly conducive to working in these temperatures…

My parting shot went …

“I’ve picked a good week to make a comeback… I’m just going to switch my ovens on”

I’m glad I said “never say never” but I did think this was behind me .. I’m excited by cooking for ‘80 wedding guests’ but also a little bit nervous. Please wish me luck 🍀

One thing that never changes is that I always use the best produce I can … my delivery this morning being a case in point.

And the conversation went …

Me “Do I look younger there?”

Guest Chef “Yes … A LOT younger”

Well it was 8 years ago so I understand his comment … not sure he was quite as sympathetic when I suggested I returned to having such a sort hair cut 🤣

Those were the days … when the young looking me imported a whole Jamón Ibérico de bellota specially for a Spanish Bistro night, which I held in The Memorial Hall in Blyth 🇪🇸

Things have changed since then … the cost of importing such a delicacy is too prohibitive for me … that said I’ll still have a fabulous selection of authentic food combined with my interpretation of the Spanish cuisine I love so much on 9th May when I hold my next bistro😍

Nowadays my bistro meals come to you as a delivery service … the same attention to detail as I’ve always had but now my meals are brought to you so that you can enjoy them in the comfort of your own home.

Finally I thought I’d show you a photo of the older Cary … taken last week in the country I love to visit as often as I can ❤️💛❤️

I held my first Bistro Night in April 2018. It was a nod to mine and “The Guest Chef” s love of Spain … back then we had it as a pop up night in Blyth.

Since then there have been some changes.

Covid stopped me holding them in situ and I moved to doing the same food delivered to your homes … kind of eating out eating in … or as what was often described as ‘opening a stocking on Christmas morning’ 😍

Then I fractured my pelvis which forced me to stop cooking for a while and made me think about taking a different path… consequently I took time out and retrained.

I’ve spent the last 3 years mentoring young people who need help with their education. After a while I realised I couldn’t do both so my Bistro Nights had to take a back seat.

However I have continued to make food … quietly in the background. Mainly for a local company who treat their clients to the most amazing business lunches … but also for people who have asked me to cook for their special occasions.

Now I only work with one young person which gives me free time. I was bowled over with the messages I received recently asking me if I’d be doing my meals again 😍

SO …

I’ve decided to give it a try. I shall limit numbers but the format will be the same… 5-7 courses cooked by me… packed in a quirky way delivered to you along with instructions for how to serve… they are intended to be eaten as one complete meal but in reality most of my guests managed to make the food last all weekend 😮

I’m torn between Spanish (where it all started) and a Greek Mezze … whichever I go with I’ll deliver on Saturday 9th May.

Today I cooked lunch for a local business who are entertaining their clients.

This is what I delivered 😍
I’m back in the kitchen preparing to cook a completely different menu for them tomorrow … however there will be one repeat item.
No prizes for guessing what it is 🤣
