Coombs Fair & Fairgrounds Arrowsmith Agricultural Association: Home of the Coombs Fair. Celebrating agriculture and community

We are a registered non-profit society, with roots back to 1913, when district farmers held the first Coombs Fall Fair to showcase local food crops and livestock. Although the name has changed over the years, the mandate of our organization has remained the same, and our presence in the community is growing. The Purpose of our Association is to:
a) to foster community spirit;
b) to promote culti

vation of the soil and general development of agricultural resources;
c) to facilitate, directly or through other associations, the education and personal development of people of all ages in agricultural and farming activities;
d) to conduct an agricultural fair and exhibition.

So grateful to the Springford family, Colin's legacy for the continued support. We are excited to be able to add this element to the Kids Club programming on the fairgrounds and continue education in agriculture and food.

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of presenting the 2026 Springford Family Foundation grants to three local organizations helping build strong community connections for children, youth and families in our area.

🌱 Arrowsmith Agricultural Association - supporting the Coombs Fair Kids Club: Farm to Table program, where youth build food skills through hands-on learning in the garden and the kitchen.

🎻 Oceanside Classical Concerts Society - supporting their Early Years Program, where children are introduced to live classical music and hands-on instrument exploration in the classroom.

🎬 Qualicum Beach Multi-Use Cinema Society - supporting the purchase of a permanent screen to help expand community film programming and create new opportunities for audiences of all ages.

Each organization received a $2,000 grant through the Springford Family Foundation.

The Foundation focuses on three areas that were important to Colin: improving the quality of life for children and youth, strengthening local agriculture and food systems, and enhancing environmental stewardship, sustainability and biodiversity.

This marks our fifth year of granting through the Springford Family Foundation, administered by the Parksville-Qualicum Community Foundation. We’re grateful for the many community-minded people who continue to create meaningful opportunities right here at home.

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of presenting the 2026 Springford Family Foundation grants to three local organizations helping build strong community connections for children, youth and families in our area.
