Nine elopements in 13 days… and I couldn’t have asked for a better way to finish! 🍁

Coleton and Nichole were my ninth couple in this incredible stretch of fall elopements here in Telluride, Colorado, and WOW, did the mountains put on a show for us!

Everywhere we turned, the aspens were glowing yellow and orange, with just enough green left to make the colors even more beautiful.

Most of the tourists have headed home, so we practically had the mountains to ourselves! We spent the day exploring everything from incredible views high in the San Juans to quiet valley roads covered in freshly fallen leaves.

And honestly, I couldn’t have imagined a better way to end these past two weeks.

Now it’s time to catch up on editing! I’ve already finished about half of these elopements, and I still have one more coming up in about a week and a half. Fingers crossed Mother Nature saves a little fall color for us!

What an amazing fall it’s been here in Telluride!

Nine couples, nine completely different adventures, and a whole lot of memories I’ll never forget.

If you’ve ever dreamed of getting married surrounded by golden aspens and incredible mountain views, fall in Telluride is something you need to experience for yourself! ❤️

This is NOT the side of a huge cliff… 😂

Sarah and Colten were actually standing on a pretty small hill here in Ouray.

But this is one of the things I love about photography. Give me a couple, a camera, the mountains and a little creativity, and I can make a small hill feel like the edge of the world.

I’ll show you where to stand, what to do, where to look and how to make it all feel natural. You don’t need to know how to pose, and you definitely don’t need to be a model.

You just show up ready for an adventure. I’ll figure out how to make it look amazing. ❤️

And sometimes… the giant cliff isn’t really a giant cliff at all.

Sarah and Colten, congratulations on your elopement yesterday!

19 years ago today, I married my best friend. ❤️

It’s hard to believe how much life Rhonda and I have packed into those 19 years.

We started a wedding photography business together in Nashville, sold almost everything we owned to travel America for two years in an Airstream, had the most amazing son I could ever ask for, and eventually found our way to Colorado, where somehow we still get to work side by side photographing couples getting married in the mountains of Telluride.

To say I’m living a dream is an understatement.

And today feels especially fitting.

For our 19th anniversary, Rhonda is coming along with me to photograph an elopement. So while one couple begins their life together, we’ll be celebrating 19 years of ours.

Nineteen years of adventures, big decisions, taking chances, raising a family, working together, laughing together and somehow still choosing each other through all of it.

Maybe today we’ll even pass along a little wisdom. ❤️

Happy anniversary, Rhonda. I wouldn’t want to have lived this crazy adventure with anyone else.

You may have seen Ryan and Emma’s sunset silhouette yesterday… but that was just the ending to an incredible day. ❤️

Saturday gave us beautiful sunshine, amazing fall colors and, surprisingly, some quiet places in the mountains where Ryan and Emma could simply enjoy being together.

And that’s what I loved most about these two.

They weren’t worried about everything being perfect. They weren’t rushing through a wedding timeline. They were just excited to exchange their vows, explore the mountains and enjoy their first day as husband and wife.

We laughed, had some great conversations and took our time letting the day unfold around us.

They looked absolutely incredible together, but more importantly, they looked happy.

I even heard Emma say “this is fun!” and to me, that’s exactly what a Telluride elopement should feel like. ❤️

This was the very last photo I took of Emma and Ryan last night in Telluride.

The sun was disappearing behind the mountains and our adventure was pretty much over. As we drove by this spot, I saw the color in the sky and immediately stopped the car.

I asked them, “Can we do one more?”

They both said YES.

So we jumped out, walked to the edge of the water, and I put my camera as low as I could.

And then Telluride gave us this!

I love everything about this photograph, but even more, I love what it represents.

Emma and Ryan chose the silence of the mountains over the chaos of a big wedding. They spent their wedding day exploring, laughing, taking chances and simply being together.

And when there was one last little adventure waiting at sunset… they said yes to that too.

Maybe that’s what an elopement is really about.

Not creating the perfect wedding day.

But leaving enough room for something magical to happen that you never could have planned.

Congratulations to Emma and Ryan!

If this is how you’d rather end your wedding day, come elope with me in Telluride. ❤️

I seriously can’t get over the fall colors this year! 🍂🔥

Here are a few more from Cory and Staci’s elopement in Ouray, Colorado, where it felt like we got every fall color imaginable!

Deep oranges, bright yellows, reds, greens… and then we headed higher into the mountains and even got a little snow to top it all off. ❄️

It was one of those days where everywhere we turned there was another picture waiting to happen.

Fall in the San Juans has been absolutely incredible this year!

After a fall filled with rain and changing weather… the sun finally came out!

Kyle and Kylie couldn’t have picked a better day to get married in Ouray, Colorado. The sunshine absolutely lit up the fall colors for their ceremony and made the San Juan Mountains look incredible!

Afterward, we headed out exploring some mountain roads I hadn’t been on in a while, and they gave us some beautiful surprises along the way.

That’s one of my favorite things about a Colorado elopement. You never quite know what the mountains are going to give you… but if you’re willing to explore, there’s usually something amazing waiting around the next corner.

What would your perfect fall elopement day look like?

Yesterday in Telluride was wet, muddy and absolutely beautiful!

Trevor and Kerri embraced every bit of it. We explored new places, got a little dirty, and instead of worrying about keeping everything perfect, they focused on what really mattered… being together and enjoying the adventure!

After doing this for so many years, I’ve learned something: the couples who put love and adventure before the perfect picture almost always end up with the best pictures anyway.

A dress can be cleaned and mud washes off,
But you’ll never forget how your wedding day felt!

What if your fall elopement gave you autumn AND winter in the same day?

That’s exactly what Cory and Staci got yesterday!

They exchanged vows surrounded by incredible mountain views, and as we made our way higher into the San Juans, the fall colors slowly turned into falling snow.

We found beautiful places along the way, stopped for a picnic with an unbelievable view, and ended the day back among the golden aspens where Cory and Staci danced, laughed and simply enjoyed being married.

Ouray is absolutely gorgeous right now, Telluride is changing fast, and I’m having the time of my life photographing these amazing Fall elopements!!

Beautiful mountain views are amazing… but getting you there safely will always come first.

It’s been a rainy fall in Telluride, and conditions in these mountains can change incredibly fast. After years of exploring these roads in Bruiser, I’ve learned which ones can handle the weather—and which ones we need to stay away from when conditions turn bad.

That’s one of the biggest advantages of hiring someone who knows these mountains inside and out. If the weather changes, I’m not worried about forcing Plan A. I already know where else we can go and still have an incredible adventure.

Your job is to enjoy your wedding day. I’ll worry about the mountains. ❤️🏔️
