Join us and bring your family for the OFFICIAL TRAIL RUN of the KZN South Coast!

Adventure, breathtaking scenery, sandy beaches and unforgettable memories await as the Pineapple Express Trail Run returns to the beautiful KZN South Coast on Saturday, 15 August 2026. Proudly recognised as the Official Trail Run of the KZN South Coast, this iconic event promises an experience unlike any other trail race in South Africa.

The Pineapple Express is far more than simply running along beaches and rocky outcrops. It's a spectacular coastal adventure where runners follow pristine beaches, navigate rocky shorelines, splash through river crossings and embrace the ever-changing tides of the Indian Ocean. Every kilometre offers a new challenge and a new view, making every runner feel like they are part of an epic expedition along one of South Africa's most beautiful coastlines.

This year's event has strengthened its community partnerships with two incredible organisations that help make the race even more memorable. The Rotary Club of Uvongo has joined the event as the official route management partner, with volunteers stationed throughout the course to encourage runners, assist with navigation and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

One of the most exciting moments of the race comes just before the finish, where competitors reach the magnificent Mtamvuna River—the historic natural border that once separated KwaZulu-Natal from the former Transkei. Here, the dedicated team from the Port Edward NSRI will once again play a vital role in helping runners complete their adventure.

Using rescue boats and jet skis, the NSRI crew will safely transport athletes across the river from the beach to the opposite bank before they tackle the final metres to the finish line. It's a thrilling experience that has become one of the most unique and talked-about highlights of the Pineapple Express.

Whether you're an experienced trail runner or simply looking for an unforgettable weekend with family and friends, there's a distance for everyone. The Wave Warrior 30km starts from Ramsgate Beach at 6:30am, offering the ultimate endurance challenge along the coastline. The Tide-Breaker 21km begins at Trafalgar Beach at 7:00am, while the Coastal Cruz 12km, starting from Glenmore Beach at 7:30am, is perfect for newcomers, social runners and families wanting to experience the magic of the event together.

What an honour and privilege to set up and manage the Start and Finish branding for our 23rd Comrades Marathon.

A massive well done to my team who have worked so hard for the past few months for today’s race.

Thank you to our amazing clients, Comrades Marathon, GEMS, Thirsti and Flora for entrusting us with their brand’s exposure for this insanely incredible race.

Lastly, well done to all you mildly insane runners who took in this epic race. You are incredible!

This weekend marks a truly historic moment as the TINMAN heads to Prime View for the biggest race in its 27-year history. Record-breaking entries are not just a milestone for the event—they are a powerful reflection of a sport that is thriving and rapidly expanding across South Africa.

Triathlon is no longer seen as an elite or intimidating challenge. Instead, it has evolved into an inclusive, family-friendly sport that welcomes everyone, from beginners to experienced athletes. The remarkable growth of the TINMAN Series highlights this shift, proving that more South Africans are embracing active lifestyles and seeking meaningful, shared experiences through sport.

What makes the TINMAN Series so special is its strong focus on family participation. With a variety of distances and formats, it creates opportunities for parents, children, and friends to race together, support one another, and celebrate personal achievements. This sense of community is at the heart of its success and is a key reason why numbers continue to climb year after year.

Beyond race day, the benefits of the TINMAN and triathlon as a whole are far-reaching. Participants improve their physical health, build mental resilience, and gain confidence by stepping outside their comfort zones. The series also provides a safe, well-organised environment where newcomers can learn the sport, while more competitive athletes can challenge themselves and grow.

As the largest TINMAN race ever unfolds this weekend, it stands as a clear and inspiring sign: triathlon in South Africa is not just growing—it is booming, lets hpe it continues!
