Kina:suttsu is a Japanese experimental artist whose practice combines music, performance, visual art, and film.

Using saxophone, electronics, noise, and field recordings, she creates immersive performances that blur the boundaries between ancient ritual and contemporary experimental music.

Since releasing her first album in 2005, she has performed and exhibited internationally. Her releases include music on labels in the UK and France, including a cassette as NAVU and a collaborative release with PhilMFU, ZONGAMIN, E- Da (ex.Boredoms, Seefeel). She has also recorded with legendary bassist Jah Wobble and released a live recording with Damo Suzuki.

In 2021, she appeared in and composed the soundtrack for British filmmaker Daisy Dickinson’s short film Kaki no Shizuku, which was selected for the Los Angeles Film Awards.

Recent activities include touring Georgia, Turkey, and the UK with E-Da, releasing her first solo recording, and continuing collaborations across Europe and Japan.

In 2025 she released the album 'Ritual: An Encounter with Mugwort' on the French label Naslo Records under the project name Kina:suttsu + E-Da.

Kawol Samarqandi crafts non-national, “poor” music—stripped-down improvisations built only from his faltering guitar and trembling voice. In this sparse terrain of sound, silence becomes structural, and fragility becomes strength.⁣⁣⁣

REFUGEES is the duo of Mary Meacha Goldfish with her partner, Kawol SamarQandi. The project became a platform for expansive, contemplative soundscapes that blend analog electronics, acoustic instrumentation, and poetic minimalism.⁣⁣⁣

⁣Mary Meacha Goldfish is a multidisciplinary musician and sound artist known for her atmospheric compositions and her philosophy of “tinnitus music,” an approach that designs organic acoustics while listening attentively to the sound of silence.⁣⁣⁣

⁣Central to Goldfish’s artistic philosophy is what she calls “tinnitus music.” Rather than treating silence as absence, she approaches it as a living field of subtle vibration. By designing organic acoustics and listening carefully to internal and environmental sound, she creates works that hover between presence and disappearance. ⁣⁣⁣Her compositions invite listeners to attune themselves to micro-sounds, resonances, and the fragile boundary between noise and quiet.⁣⁣⁣

Hello all,

It has been a while between shows, but we have an interesting one coming up.

Barnaby Oliver is a UK-born, Melbourne-based composer, multi-instrumentalist, and sound artist. Active in Australia's exploratory and experimental music scene, his work spans contemporary classical, ambient minimalism, and free improvisation. He performs and records using instruments like the piano, violin, bowed banjo, and bowed metal bowls.

His background includes contemporary classical composition, alternative rock, mixed media collaborations, and solo/group improvisation. Amongst his many projects he includes Brenin – a mini-opera for BBC Wales inspired by the mythical Welsh ancestry of Elvis Presley. He has arranged and conducted large group performances, such as "The Wall of E" a 17-player electric guitar ensemble, and a 12 piece band arrangement of the Velvet Underground's 'Sister Ray' for Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Piano, Trumpet, Tenor Sax, Trombone, and Percussion.

His experience and influences are vast, as he delves into sonic textures with intricate glee and precision. As evidenced with both his unique electric guitar and piano skills, in particular his meditative piano, in projects such as his duo work with Clinton Green, and in the band Infinite Decimals. Possibly Melbourne's answer to The Necks? His works are “arranged to bring attention to the beauty of a refrain, a note or even a moment's silence”. It is an act of pulling sophisticated sounds via unconventional sources and manners.

Barnaby visits Aotearoa for the first time this June, and will perform at the Bakehouse Collective.

Support for this show comes from Spirit Holler, a new free saxophone and electric guitar duo, featuring Zak Argabrite and Zac Winterwood.

Our next concert is a very special one, featuring a band traveling a very long way to NZ on their first time leaving their native country.

Nonconnah is an experimental music collective based in Memphis, Tennessee, headed by the husband-and-wife duo of Zachary Corsa and Denny Wilkerson Corsa.

Nonconnah creates haunting soundscapes and collages, often using antique or unusual instrumentation and obsolete recording technology to draw on themes of memory and the past, the supernatural, and the liminal spaces where the man-made and natural worlds meet. Releases such as 2021's Songs for and About Ghosts are filled with warped lo-fi guitars, field recordings, grainy samples, and acoustic instrumentation, arranged into dreamlike sequences. The Corsas draw on a wide range of sonic influences, from shoegaze and post-rock to dark ambient to recurring motifs of old time/Appalachian mountain music. Their work has been widely acclaimed by the likes of Pitchfork, SPIN, The Wire, AllMusic, Fluid Radio, Tiny Mix Tapes, Brainwashed, A Closer Listen, Echoes & Dust, I Heart Noise, and more.

A highly collaborative effort, Nonconnah has collaborated with past and present members of bands like Deerhoof, Swans, Earth, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, A Silver Mt. Zion, Archers Of Loaf, Wolf Parade, Band Of Susans, The Black Heart Procession, Lovesliescrushing, Come, Burning Witch, Vetiver, Cloudland Canyon, Soul Coughing, Lightfoils, Lazy Legs, Skywave, United Bible Studies, and many more.

Greetings all,

For our first concert of 2026 we're excited to welcome back Anna Fält with a return performance in the Wairarapa on Saturday 24th January at The Bakehouse Collective in Featherston.

Anna Fält is a versatile singer-songwriter who is passionate about Nordic folk singing. She's been touring around Scandinavia, as well as outside Europe, for years with her unique concept of solo vocal concerts. Specializing in different singing traditions from her two home countries Finland and Sweden, she combines the bright Scandinavian and dark East-European tones, performing in churches, museums, festivals, folk music venues, clubs and concert halls.

These concerts are tributes to the human voice, a one woman band, singing like you've never heard it before! Tradition meets vocal arts, avantgarde and story telling in an innovative and personal, intimate way.

Besides her solo concerts, Anna works with performing arts and multidisciplinary art projects, with folk music research and teaching various folk song workshops. She has 3 music degrees and she ́s been studying folk music in 5 different countries. Her main work is, however, being a solo artist and developing the solo a ca****la singing.
