🚨LET US RESIST THE EROSION OF COLLECTIVE MEMORY🚨
(Find the link in our bio).
We have reached 13% on our boosted fundraiser. Help us reach 100% !!!!
Almost two months ago we received some heartbreaking news - after 30 years of gigs, poetry nights, providing shelter, and political discussion, 13 Garrett Street is being closed down.
Since then, we’ve formed The Museum of Garrett St, with the aim to collect and share the history of this iconic space before it's too late. We have started a Boosted Fundraiser campaign to grow our archival project and fund three projects; A Documentary, a Book and a Compilation Album.
📹 The Documentary Film 📹
🟣 A documentary film will be produced from years of observational footage and hundreds of audio recordings, and will work to produce a series of moments that capture the many different moods of Garrett Street - check out the small clip on our Boosted Campaign as a taste.
📖 The Book of Garrett 📖
🟣 Using interviews, submissions, and photos/posters, this book will track the stories of 13 Garrett Street as a community space from its beginnings in the early 90s up to and past its modern iteration's dissolution in 2026. We won’t be able to tell every story, but we want to make something our community can recognise, and for whoever comes after us.
💽 The Compilation Album 💽
🟣 A compilation album will bring together a broad collection of poetry, live performances, bangers & tunes, original recordings, jam sessions, and other bespoke audio. A snapshot of the voices, musical flavours and spontaneous moments of creativity that transpired during the space’s final years.
🚨 This is not a cheap endeavour… we are aiming to raise $21,131 to fund these projects and the continuing archiving efforts. We thank everyone who has supported or participated with 13 Garrett Street to make this archival project a reality so far. Find our Boosted Fundraising Campaign in our bio or via Museumofgarrett.com
