‘Stashbusters’ with Marianne Hall

It’s a warm welcome back to another of our lovely ‘in-house’ tutors - the ever-popular Marianne brings you a workshop that you probably won’t need much of a requirements list for!! This is all about using up those annoying bits of fabric we all have in our stash that are too small to make anything with - but too good to throw away – ask me how I know! Or maybe you have some fat quarters that are were just not the right colour after all…again ask me how I know!!

The theme seems to be nature with trees and sun bursts etc in addition to Marianne’s own favourite theme – Christmas of course!! …Construction couldn’t be easier - you’ll use very simple applique techniques. Shown here are just some of Marianne’s ideas, there’s lots more…and the end projects can be made into anything you like – cushion, wall hanging, table runner, quilt, Christmas cards etc –the choice is yours!

So, dig out those fabric bits – they can be anything you have in your stash, bring them along with your sewing machine, some background fabric, general sewing kit and you’re good to go!

Psst… And if you do go with a Christmas tree theme, there’ll be a special something for you to make at the weekend to decorate your tree – it’s a secret but everything you need is provided…!

Bag Ladies with Jules Moreton-Ford



Another ‘sure to be a sell out workshop’ from ‘our Jules’. Her handbags are stunning – yes these are real handbags – don’t go thinking you’ll be making the ubiquitous boring old fabric tote bags! These handbags are made complete with lining, pockets, zips, hardware etc. and Jules will teach you all the tricks of the trade - so your bags will look ‘couture’ - you’ll even have a choice of designs…

The materials used means your bags can be made on any good quality domestic sewing machine – this makes it a perfect workshop for everyone from absolute beginners to more experienced stitchers – all you need to do is to sew in a straight line!



Jules brings with her a copious supply of zips and handbag hardware – studs, rings, clasps etc – for you to buy from her at the weekend. A full needs list will be sent beforehand, and ManMade Fabrics will be at KOS on the Friday for you to be able to purchase your handbag material and lining from them (or preorder and they will bring it to KOS for you – more details will be on the needs list)

I'm going to be posting teasers this week for Octobers retreat......just to give you a chance to make up your mind before the boking forms get sent out next week - are you ready???

A Festive Embroidery Extravaganza with Kathleen Laurel Sage

2 years ago, Kathy taught the most fantastic Christmas themed digital embroidery workshop. Everyone loved the class and produced beautiful work including wreaths, hanging hoops and other stunning Christmas décor.

Many of you were disappointed to miss this wonderful class (especially those who don’t own an embroidery unit machine) so Kathy is teaching a similar class this October. but this time is including some free motion embroidery projects too… so if you don’t have a digital embroidery machine you won’t miss out!

Kathy will provide kits at a nominal cost so you don’t have to go shopping and you can rest assured you’ll have the right ‘stuff’ for whichever projects you choose to do. All you’ll need to bring is your sewing machine (and unit if you have one), some embroidery threads and basic sewing kit.

There’ll be lots of different projects to choose from so if you fancy joining again this year then go ahead…but beware this workshop is sure to be a sell out again so don’t delay in booking.

What’s with all this rain?? I really thought summer was here……still it allows for some sewing time 🤣

If you’d like some good uninterrupted sewing time, either working on your own projects or taking a workshop and learning/trying something new then how about coming to our next retreat in July.

With holidays, Easter, birthdays, etc, I’m afraid I don’t have time to post teasers, so you’re seeing it all at once and hopefully you’ll be able to decide between all the fabulous classes on offer, before the booking form arrives in your emails. Hasn’t Pam done a fabulous job of getting awesome classes for the July retreat??
