Part of my job is making sure we work in time to do more than just live moment to moment. I make sure to build in time for things you want, like bridal portraits.

It gives you the chance to slow down, take in the excitement, and capture every detail of your bridal look. It’s a small addition to the timeline that creates some of the most timeless images from the day (and always some of my favorites!). And we're always obsessed with looking back at these photos.

I've been working in weddings long enough that some of my current couples weren't even born when I started.

I'll let that sink in for a minute. It's still sinking in for me too.

After 25 years in weddings, I've learned that experience isn't about having seen every possible thing that could happen. Weddings will always find new ways to surprise you.

It's knowing how to adjust when something changes, when to stick to the plan and when to throw it out, and how to solve a problem without making it the couple's problem.

I still love seeing all the details come together. But knowing what to do when they don't go exactly as planned? That's something only time and a lot of weddings can teach you.

A gentle reminder for your wedding day: you shouldn't be answering vendor questions.

You shouldn't be checking whether transportation has arrived, figuring out where the florist needs to go, wondering when the photographer needs you next, or keeping an eye on the clock to make sure dinner starts on time.

Your job that day is to get married and enjoy the celebration you've spent months planning.

And our job is to know the answers before anyone needs to ask you.

I have a confession: I really don't like the term “day-of coordinator.”

Not because there isn't a need for wedding day support, but because what my team and I do starts long before we show up on your wedding day.

Our Event Management collection begins at least six months out. During that time, we're getting to know your plans, reviewing the details, creating your timeline with you, communicating with your vendor team, and making sure everyone is on the same page before the wedding arrives.

By the time we get to your wedding day, we aren't walking in and trying to make someone else's plan work. We've been part of creating that plan.

That's what allows us to step in, manage the day, and let you actually enjoy it.

Pro tip: Your wedding day timeline shouldn't start with a template you found online.

Every wedding has different logistics to account for: your venue, your vendor team, photography, transportation, dinner service, formalities, and how you actually want the day to flow.

When I create a timeline with my couples, I'm looking at the whole picture. Then I work with the vendor team to make sure the timing works for them too. The goal isn't to pack every minute of the day into a schedule. It's to create a timeline that makes sense for your wedding and gives everyone what they need to do their jobs well.

It's one of the reasons we start working with our Event Management couples months before the wedding day, not the week of.
