✨🎊 Millie and Jack! ✨🎊
 This commission holds extra meaning, featuring Millie’s childhood home in the background — a place deeply significant to her and her family. Their beloved fur babies, Archie and Roo, also make an appearance and I added some wildflowers — subtly, so as not to pull focus from the couple.

Big thanks to Oana and Valentine of .photography for the fantastic reference photograph that inspired painting this happy pair into the scene.

A and S’s serene Anand Karaj at Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Southall 🤍

Painting this on a 20”x30” canvas gave me the space to capture a high level of detail — from the iconic stained-glass window to the intricate embroidery in their attire (scroll for details and also the lower part of the canvas, which is cut-off on the first slide due to IG formatting!).

I used a combination of impasto layering for the golden dome and bridal lehenga, paired with soft translucent washes to capture the coloured light thrown over the floor from the window. ✨🎨

Loved painting this stunning Anand Karaj ceremony at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Willenhall. Simran and Paul looked incredible and I wanted to capture every little detail of their outfits and the beautiful fabrics around them. I offset this detailing with loose expressive florals and by abstracting the backdrop, using the carpet pattern to subtly add depth.

We’d agreed on a burnt sienna tint+shade background, so I was happy to see how the pink, blue, and gold tones in the room could echo the palette of Degas’ “Dancers in Pink” (1880–85). 🎨

For the background, I played with water droplets over layered colour, creating an ethereal base for the khanda 🪯 and ek onkar symbols to resonate from. By contrast, I toned down the Gurmukhi script and painted the Granthi very subtly, so as to not pull focus from the couple.

What an honour to paint this beautiful couple in such a spiritual setting. Grateful to Simran & Paul for trusting me, to the Gurdwara for welcoming me and to work alongside the fabulous
