Huge congratulations to Kavita and Dhruv!

Their wedding at was simply stunning and I was delighted to paint this scene closing the ceremony, when they’re officially husband and wife 💖

The peacock-themed décor looked fantastic (see yesterday’s reel) and I love how the feathers on the Mandap’s pillars look like small flying birds. The detail of the carved wood looked incredible, particularly the swans 😍 and the reflective gold steps were also really fun to paint.

Beautiful Kavita & Dhruv were the real show-stoppers - I studied both their fabulous wedding attire closely and was sure to include the peacocks on Dhruv’s Sherwani jacket and shoes 💚💙🦚

So happy to share this painting of Rachel and Ben on their wedding day at St. Osyth Priory. It was a fabulous day full of so much love and laughter, their friends and family kept the vibes flowing all day and into the evening. Yet their portrait here tells a different story of a peaceful, romantic moment away from the wedding P.A.R.T.Y 🎉

I always try to paint people’s characters in their portraits and, since the painting was a surprise for Rachel, I hadn’t met her during our consultation. Though it was clear straight away how cheerfully free they are around one another, so that’s what I aimed to portray in their painting.

Let’s also talk about Gus 🐶 looking very dapper in his doggy tux. I posed him at their feet like a Gainsborough composition and totally fell for those puppy-dog eyes in the making of this piece!

Congratulations Navleen and Nick! Loved painting this beautiful pair. We had a real creative and productive pre-wedding consultation for this piece…

We played with scale to fill the entire canvas, making the stained-glass window extra large so it’s more visible behind the golden domed Palki. We also made the khanda symbol 🪯 (in the window) smaller so the entire symbol’s visible (instead of partially, as it really is). This meant I really had to focus, rather than just painting what I see! You may also notice the portraits on Navleen’s kaleera are larger than life, so the reference is visible, albeit an impression.

Navleen and Nick were thrilled with their phenomenal wedding attire from and I agreed to do my best to paint them in detail. Needless to say there were a few late nights in the studio!

Blessed to to return to for this stunning Anand Karaj ceremony. Love the warm decor with the wooden Palki in this Diwan Hall. Some artistic license was used to include the ek onkar and khanda symbols in the composition, plus the beautiful florals by (which we’re really on the Palki but still secured here by the bride and groom).

The beautiful message in Gurmukhi embroidered on the chanani is reads “sub tai vada satiguru nanak Jin kal Rakhi mery” (“He who is top of everything will protect me”) illuminated with fairy lights.

Grateful to have had the opportunity to also include special family portraits hanging from the beautiful bride’s kaleera and to also work with these lovely people:

Very excited to share Rupa and Avtar’s wedding portrait at last! The piece was commissioned by their generous sister as a surprise and while the couple were on their extended honeymoon, I completed the work in my studio (see yesterday’s Reel if you’re interested in what I got up to there!).

This ceremony took place a while back but I obviously needed to wait until the newlyweds were back home and had seen their painting before sharing it on here!

I’m excited to be taking part in this wedding fayre in a couple of weeks’ time at where I’ll be painting live.

Posted • Plan your wedding day from start to finish at Braintree Town Hall. On the 16th March, we will be welcoming a selection of wedding suppliers to help you complete your special day ❤

The building will be open from 10:00-14:00 for new and existing wedding couples.

You can tour the building, book your wedding, speak to staff, and tick off all of the finer details.

The event is free to attend. No need to RSVP.

We still have stallholder availability. We are on the lookout for florists, celebrants, entertainment, hair & makeup, and transport.

J and S sent me videos from their wedding reception taken on some of their friends’ phones. I scythed through the footage, selecting stills of the happy couple plus those they’d pointed-out to be included in their painting. The videos were good (aren’t phones amazing!!) and I managed to get a good feel for the room, a sense of space and atmosphere.
