They didn’t meet in Japan.
But somehow, their story began there.
During a trip to Japan, Linh once visited a shrine to pray for love - something playful, not taken too seriously, but memorable enough to stay with her. Then, back in Vietnam, she met Yuya through a dating app.
Yuya is Japanese, and he chose to stay in Vietnam for more than 9 years simply because it felt like home to him. Linh, a graphic designer, loves freedom and new experiences. Their story didn’t begin with a dramatic moment or instant sparks, but through quiet conversations that slowly became something meaningful.
There were years of long distance. Linh moved to Singapore for work while Yuya stayed in Vietnam. Later, after Linh returned, Yuya left for the US to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a pilot. They never rushed each other. Instead, they chose to grow individually, then continue choosing each other through every stage of life.
Their wedding reflected the way they love - intimate, thoughtful, and surrounded only by the people who matter most. Bamboo became a meaningful design element throughout the wedding, representing a subtle connection between Vietnamese and Japanese culture in a modern and minimal way that felt truly like them.
Some love stories don’t begin with grand moments. Sometimes, they are built from many small things - a random wish, a coincidental meeting, a decision to stay, and countless times choosing each other through life’s different paths.
DT Story was grateful to witness and document Linh & Yuya’s journey - a quiet but deeply meaningful love story, told exactly as it happened.
