Michelle (Fage) Cawthron of Paradise Planning moved to the Caribbean in early 2011 after having spent over 8 years living in Los Angeles. While working for the ESPN X Games, ASA Events, Mercedes Fashion Week and celebrity stylists, she was privy to the requirements of anticipating high profile client needs. Her extensive knowlege of wedding and event planning comes from planning and executing numerous events around the country as well as around the world. John, she immediately went to work for local wedding planners. In her time on island, she has close to 40 weddings and events in her portfolio of work. Michelle quickly learned that her approach to wedding and event planning is very different than what was and currently is being offered on the island of St. John and made the decision to start Paradise Planning. You have a vision for your wedding or special event and Paradise Planning will do everything to realize that vision. Michelle's experience with traditional stateside weddings, as well as destination weddings, has helped her understand what the “Modern Bride” is looking for on her special day. She loves designing and creating an event that meets and even exceeds your expectations. Molly and Zack — my long‑lost family members I somehow never met until planning their wedding. Their friends and family (mostly fellow Massachusetts folks!) made me feel like I was at one of my own family’s weddings. Truly the best feeling.⁠

Their ceremony at The Hills… absolute perfection.⁠
And their reception at 1864 The Restaurant? A full‑on SHOW.⁠

Each table had a designated “captain,” and throughout the night every table performed different skits — hilarious, creative, and SO them. And let’s talk about Molly… this bride STRUTTED on the bar (no pro photos of that one… I’ll have to dig some out!) and then proceeded to do THE WORM on the dance floor. Iconic doesn’t even begin to cover it.⁠

We’re jumping into this week with a look at Makayla and Zack's epic wedding day. Seriously, it was flawless from beginning to end. Makayla looked absolutely amazing, and when she threw that cape over her Ines Di Santo dress… wow, just wow! Their friends and family were all set to celebrate, and even the crew at La Tapa couldn’t help but groove to the awesome beats from DJ LS1 and saxophonist Sherwin Williams.⁠

Now that things have quieted down a bit on St. John, I’m loving the galleries rolling in from weddings my team and I celebrated earlier this year. I’ll be sharing them over the coming weeks — there were so many incredible celebrations!

First up: Katarina and David. We started working together back in 2024, and were able to meet in person at La Tapa in October 2025, they were just the sweetest couple. By the time their July wedding arrived, it truly felt like seeing old friends.

Their day was everything — joyful, relaxed, heartfelt, and full of those magical island moments we all love.

One of the highlights of my career…heck, my LIFE. This was back in 2004 at Dollywood.

Standing next to her, I remember her cracking jokes about me with all these action‑sports athletes. She was hilarious, quick, and so genuinely present.

And the way she smelled… I’ve tried explaining it to people. Her perfume was unreal. Her smile — magical and so sincere. She had such a presence. You felt it instantly.

As a Mom, I will always be grateful for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library The boys and I still read so many of the books that they received until they turned 5.

The world truly lost an angel walking among us today.

Rest in Peace, Dolly Parton.

Dani and Matt… married in 2021. We met through a mutual friend/vendor, and after our very first call, it felt like reconnecting with long‑lost friends. I remember looking forward to every call we had — even now, years later, I can still remember those conversations and the laughter we shared.

They were so in love, so easy to work with, and just such bright, genuine souls. And Dani — absolutely stunning, inside and out. Matt, equally handsome and kind.

One thing I’ll never forget is how much Dani adored her rescue pups. She told me all about them, and I’ve followed their little family on social media ever since, the way I do with so many former clients who become friends. I was so excited earlier this year when they took the leap and moved to Charleston, ready for new adventures and a beautiful new chapter.

Earlier this week, I learned of Dani’s unexpected passing, and it shook me. Maybe because just days before, I had been looking at their wedding photos — something I hadn’t done in a while. Or maybe because you don’t always realize how deeply someone’s energy has woven itself into your life and your memory, even years later, until they’re gone. Dani’s impact wasn’t quiet — it was loud, joyful, spirited, hilarious, and full of life. I still think of their wedding day with so much fondness; she was the kind of person who filled a room and left you smiling long after the moment passed.

Sending so much love to Matt and to all of Dani’s family and friends.

Every day is a gift. Hold your people close.

I’ve had a few days to sit with this loss, but it still hits so hard. This man… this absolute gem of a human. He was such a treasure. Every time we worked together, he made me smile — without fail. He had this quiet magic about him, this way of lifting up your spirit and bringing out joy in everyone around him.

He was truly talented, but even more than that, he was good. A good soul. A good presence. A good light in this world. And he will be so deeply missed.

Lem, thank you for all the laughs through the years. Thank you for giving so many weddings and events a wonderful soundtrack. I will miss your sweet smile and your thumbs up before and after you played.

Holding his family in my heart and sending them all my love as they navigate this loss.
