Dan "The Pig Man" Huntley is owner & proprietor of Outdoor Feasts, a full-service catering business serving the Charlotte, Lake Wylie and Rock Hill communities. As our name implies, we specialize in outdoor cooking events such as whole hog barbecues, oyster roasts, and shrimp boils cooked on site. Plus we regularly cater wedding receptions and rehearsals, as well as office parties and house drop-i

ns. We have a 28-ft full service mobile kitchen with a full grill, refrigerators and freezers, hot water and generator. Dan developed his interest in regional cuisines while working as a commercial fisherman in the Caribbean with a Cuban cook and Panamanian crew, and has worked several humanitarian relief missions in Nicaragua and Honduras. Dan is author of "Extreme Barbecue: Smokin' Rigs and 100 Real Good Recipes." He has won several national writing awards in investigative reporting, short fiction and poetry. He lives in York, SC and lectures on Southern food traditions before serving pig pickings, legal moonshine tastings, oyster roasts, catfish frys, and Lowcountry shrimp boils. [email protected]

An update on Henry Gilbert, my best friend since high school in Atlanta. Henry has had a heart attack and is at Atrium in Charlotte, he’s scheduled for heart surgery on Tuesday. He’s in good spirits and relatively little pain. I’ll keep folks posted.
