It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of one of our most cherished members of the X*ACT family. Russ Dern—beloved director, actor, and friend—passed away on the morning of June 7th, 2025.

Russ brought light, laughter, and passion to every production he touched, and his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of working with him and watching him perform. His presence on and off the stage made a lasting impact on our community.

A memorial service to celebrate Russ’s life will be held on Monday, June 16th at 4:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 3:00 PM, at McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia.

We extend our deepest condolences to Russ’s family, friends, and all who loved him. He will be profoundly missed.

Russell Warren Dern, of Xenia, died Saturday, June 7, 2025 at his home. He was born April 27, 1953, and raised in Springfield Ohio, son of Jack William Dern and Ruth Warren Dern, Russ graduated from North High School in 1971. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio
