As we prepare to reopen the museum on September 4th, today’s Donor Spotlight is an old high school friend, Jason Luttrell.

This past May, Jason stopped by with some great toys and collectibles from his childhood to donate to the museum. What makes the donation even more special is that several of the pieces have survived since the 1980s still in their original boxes.

There’s something special about seeing childhood toys preserved for more than 40 years and then entrusted to the museum so others can enjoy them.

Thank you, Jason, for sharing a piece of your childhood with The Best Little Toy Museum In Texas and helping us preserve another piece of toy history!

Donor Spotlight: Patty Stepp

Last summer, Patty Stepp stopped by the museum and invited me to her home to go through her collection and see if there was anything the museum could use.

Patty had some amazing pieces. Her collection had grown over the years alongside her family, with toys always kept around for her grandchildren to enjoy. What started as a visit to look through the collection ended with me returning to the museum with seven boxes of toys!

I immediately began working them into our displays, filling gaps and adding some fantastic new pieces for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you, Patty, for your generosity and for allowing these toys (and the memories attached to them) to become part of The Best Little Toy Museum In Texas. We look forward to sharing them when we reopen September 4th!

Every now and then, a package of toys unexpectedly shows up at the museum—and those surprises are always special.

Today’s Donor Spotlight is Brett Gann, a fellow toy collector with an impressive Marvel Legends collection of his own. Brett generously sent the museum carded figures from Mission: Impossible and Aliens to add to our displays.

What makes Brett’s donation especially meaningful is that he lives all the way in Washington and has never personally visited the museum. Somehow, he discovered what we’re building here in North Texas and felt compelled to send part of his own collection to help us succeed.

It’s incredible to see the museum’s reach extend far beyond Texas and to know that fellow collectors believe in what we’re trying to preserve and share.

Thank you, Brett, for your generosity and for becoming part of The Best Little Toy Museum In Texas!

In Memory of Greg Lane -- January 9, 1970 – July 16, 2025

Today’s Donor Spotlight is a special one.

After Greg Lane passed away in 2025, his mother, Donna Lane, reached out to ask if the museum would be interested in preserving some of the toys he had collected over the years.

When I visited her home, she took me to Greg’s room, where his collection was still displayed. Greg was a collector who collected toys simply because he loved them. Many remained in their original packages, including numerous autographed pieces.

As we carefully took down and packed his collection, Ms. Lane shared stories with me about Greg and some of his favorite pieces. That experience made these much more than toys being added to the museum. Each one carries a little piece of Greg’s story with it.

Thank you, Ms. Lane, for trusting The Best Little Toy Museum In Texas to preserve Greg’s collection and share it with others. We are honored to give these pieces a new home where Greg’s love of toys can continue to be enjoyed for years to come.

As we prepare to reopen the museum on September 4th, we continue to recognize the wonderful people whose donations are helping us preserve and share toy history.

Today’s spotlight is Alan Compton and his wife, who visited the museum this past May to donate their collection of Allis-Chalmers toy tractors produced by Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company and Ertl Toy Company.

This collection has a special connection for me. I spent much of my childhood in LaPorte, Indiana, where Allis-Chalmers once operated a factory, so seeing these familiar orange tractors added to the museum immediately brought back memories of where I grew up.

Thank you, Alan and family, for entrusting your collection to The Best Little Toy Museum In Texas and giving our visitors another piece of American toy history to enjoy!

As we prepare to reopen the museum on September 4th, we want to recognize some of the wonderful people whose donations have helped us add more than 1,000 new pieces to our displays.

Our first spotlight is Jazmine Simmons, who donated her Princess Jasmine collection, including dolls, figurines, collectibles, and a very special autographed photo of Princess Jasmine’s voice actress from Disney’s 1992 Aladdin. The autograph has an extra family connection—our son got it for her at a local comic con when he was just five years old.

Jazmine has also been a great supporter of the museum, helping us spread the word through TikTok and now sharing her collection so others can enjoy it for years to come.
Thank you, Jazmine, for helping us preserve and share a little more toy history!

🎉 WE’RE RE-OPENING! 🎉

After months of moving, rearranging, squeezing, organizing…and then rearranging everything again…The Best Little Toy Museum In Texas is ready to welcome you back!

📅 RE-OPENING FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4!

We’ve been closed since May—but we definitely haven’t been sitting still. Over the past several months, the museum has been incredibly fortunate to receive numerous toy donations from collectors and families who wanted their toys to have a new home where they could continue to be enjoyed. That created a wonderful problem: Where do we put all these toys?! 😂

So we went to work. Displays have been moved. Collections have been reorganized. New toys have been added. And somehow…we managed to squeeze even more toy history into the museum.

When the doors reopen, you’ll find hundreds of new additions throughout the museum—many donated by people who wanted their childhood collections and memories to become part of something bigger.
