WHY ARE WE CLOSED FOR A COUPLE WEEKS???? If you don’t already know, I posted this a few weeks ago …..
Alright guys, let’s talk…and it’s gonna a be a long one but please read it all, I promise it’s worth it!!! I’m going to get a little personal and let you in on one of my secrets… mostly so when you see Caterlilly’s closed for a couple of days next week and then again for a couple weeks in October, nobody starts any wild rumors. 😂
I have another life in October.
Many, many years ago, my brother and I started a little Halloween haunt right here in Wright City.
It started in the front yard of our house in Huntington Acres, across from Wright City Elementary School. We decorated BIG, handed out hot dogs, popcorn, candy and hot chocolate, and basically turned our yard into Halloween chaos every year. Some of you longtime locals might actually remember us!
Well… that “little” yard haunt isn’t so little anymore.
Eventually, it moved with us all the way to an island in Lake Erie in the tiny town of Put-in-Bay, Ohio.
Today, it’s East Point Necropolis — and every year it gets BIGGER, crazier and more elaborate.
My brother and I, with some much-appreciated help from friends and family, build in about TWO WEEKS what most haunters spend MONTHS putting together.
Every year we add new props, new animatronics, new creations and completely ridiculous ideas that somehow go from “Wouldn’t it be cool if…” to “Well, I guess we’re building that now.” 😂
But the best part is WHY we still do it.
We absolutely love Halloween, but we also love the community that has embraced this crazy thing we created.
Over the last couple of years, East Point Necropolis has helped raise more than $8,000 in scholarship money and we were also able to help with a memorial honoring a beloved local fallen firefighter.
That means more to us than I could ever put into words.
So when Caterlilly’s goes dark for a little bit, I’m not secretly quitting, disappearing, running away or abandoning my Lillycats.
I’m trading my spatula for skeletons (and gargoyles) 💀😂
I’m heading north to join my brother and start turning East Point into the Necropolis once again.
And let me tell you… my brother has been an absolute MACHINE building props this year. I’ve seen what he’s been working on, and this year is going to be INSANE.

So even though most of you are hundreds of miles away, you’ll get to come along and see the finished haunt, the new creations, the scares and all the craziness we managed to put together in two weeks.

By day, I make messy food.
In October, I make monsters. 🎃💀
And I wouldn’t trade either one for anything.
