Our historic and treasured community asset receives a $110,000 gift from Bruce & Sheryl Benbrook and The Stock Exchange Bank!!

"It's moments like these that truly inspire and create space to continue the work for our community." -Exec. Dir. Candee Brossman

The Woodward Arts & Theatre Council would like to thank the Benbrooks and The Stock Exchange Bank for their generous donation and continued support throughout the years.

The WATC Board is facing adversity and funding restraints with Federal and State funding delays and cuts. The biggest expense and hurdle to overcome has been note for the roof repairs over the Woodward Arts Theatre. This single contribution has made it possible to pay off the note, gain momentum, and plan for the future.

Please help us say "THANK YOU!" to Bruce and Sheryl and SEB.
It is so exciting to partner with our community leaders and private donors and share our joy when we work together to achieve extraordinary things!

Summer Arts Camp is NEXT WEEK and we can't wait to share the talent, love, and light of RETURNING Oklahoma Teaching Artist Deonna Marie!

Deonna Marie is an EMMY Award-winning performer specializing in voice, acting, storytelling, and performance. She has partnered with brands and organizations all over the country including being a Teaching Artist at the Woodward Arts Theatre Camp, NPR, The Moth, Oklahoma Film & Music, Factory Obscura, Filmmaker’s Ranch, Oklahoma Children’s Theatre, Oklahoma City Public Schools, OETA, deadCenter University, Oklahoma Arts Council, and many more.

Deonna Marie, once an at-risk youth herself, understands the importance of going directly into schools telling her story, performing, and motivating youth within their
school as a guest speaker, performer, etc. and aimed to be the mentor and/or inspiration she wish she had as a child.

Because of her passion for working with youth, Deonna Marie incorporated youth mentorship into her program and volunteer work throughout her career. In addition, she worked as a Certified Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Specialist for 4 years, working
directly with children, teens, their families, and their leadership teams within the educational system such as teachers, counselors, principals, and coaches.

Our WATC Summer Youth Arts Camp gets some MUCH NEEDED funding to go forward in 2025!!

Thanks to Justin and TeNeil Spaeth and their $10,000 donation, Woodward community children will be able attend the annual arts camp despite the Federal and State Funding cuts and delays to the annual outreach program.

"The camp is a long-standing staple for our region with a history going back 35+ years. When we received news that our funding was in jeopardy we took immediate action to activate our Board to come up with solutions." - C. Brossman Exec. Director

"Current WATC Board Treasurer Justin Spaeth made a move we hadn't anticipated, stating that he and his wife TeNeil, would gladly make a generous contribution of $10k with the intent of motivating other individuals and community donors to take action and give towards the outreach program."

"It's inspiring to see a couple and family living so vibrantly through the arts! And this gift..this gift is just incredible." -C. Brossman

Justin and TeNeil are long-time supporters of the Arts and Woodward Arts Theatre. TeNeil owns a local dance studio in downtown Woodward, and in its early seasons, classes were housed on the stage right here at WAT. Her husband Justin, has been a great champion to her efforts to produce and help bring performances to life in our community theatre twice a season. He can often be seen running lights, tech, and sound.

We ask our friends and members to help us give Justin and TeNeil "BIG THANKS!" for all their contributions to the future of the Arts in Woodward and Northwest Oklahoma ✨️🎭🧑

We know there will be a lot of happy kiddos at camp July 21st because of the Spaeth's generosity.

If Plains Indians & Pioneers Museum isn't already on your list of places to visit often...

PIPM makes great efforts to connect with extraordinary artists, curate exhibits, and create wonderment....for all to enjoy. We can admire and appreciate their efforts to shine light on the arts and culture for our region!

We have something special planned for July in terms of an art exhibit. Throughout the month of July, the art of Sage Edsall will be on display in the Roberson Gallery at the Plains Indians & Pioneers Museum in Woodward. The aptly titled exhibit, "Painting to Preserve" represents Sage's efforts to keep alive the history and culture of this region.

The official opening for the exhibition is Saturday, July 5th with an artist reception from 2-4PM that day. There will be light refreshments so stop in and visit with this gifted artist.

As always, it's free! See you at the Muse.
