Come spend your Friday night at The Outpost with live music, good people, and some of our favorite local talent. Open Mic kicks off at 6 PM!

A quick heads-up: Tomorrow night, the adults are getting kicked out. 😂 The Outpost will be CLOSED to adults and open exclusively for TEEN NIGHT, ages 13–18.

So if you want your Outpost fix this weekend, TONIGHT is the night.

Such a wonderful evening learning about Allan Shivers: The Man Behind the Governor with these two wonderful women who are truly the heart and soul of the Allan Shivers Library & Museum. ❤️

One of my favorite fun facts from tonight: in 1952, Shivers actually appeared on BOTH the Democratic and Republican ballots for governor! He went on to serve 7½ years as governor and played a fascinating role in Texas political history.

If you haven’t visited the museum here in Woodville, you should. There’s an incredible collection of artifacts and Texas history archived right in our own backyard.

Allan Shivers grew up near Woodville, worked at a Pineywoods sawmill at 13, became Texas’ youngest state senator at 27—and in 1952, his name appeared on the ballot for governor as both the Democratic AND Republican nominee.

There’s a lot more to the man in this portrait. Come hear his story tonight at 6 PM. Free and open to the public!
