Couples who have already been through the wedding planning process: what is the one piece of vendor advice you wish someone had given you before you started?

We will go first.

Always do a hair and makeup trial. It is not optional. A trial lets you see the finished look before your wedding morning, make adjustments, and arrive on the day itself with confidence instead of anxiety. Couples who skip the trial almost always wish they had not.

Most couples spend weeks comparing venues and then rush through choosing their vendors. Here is the thing: your vendors are the ones who actually make your wedding day run.

A few things we have learned from hosting hundreds of weddings at Venue 92:

Your photographer matters more than almost any other decision you will make. Not because of their Instagram feed, but because of what their full wedding galleries look like. Anyone can produce 20 beautiful images. You want to see an entire wedding day in their hands, from getting ready through the last dance. Low-light reception photos will tell you everything.

Your DJ is not just someone who plays music. They are managing the energy and timeline of your entire reception. Ask to see them perform live before you book. A polished website tells you nothing about how they read a room.

Your florist should be evaluated on style match, not just portfolio size. A florist who specializes in lush garden arrangements may not be the right fit if you want something sleek and modern. Ask how many weddings they are delivering to on your same day.

And every single vendor you hire should give you a written contract. Read it fully. If something was promised verbally, ask for it in writing before you sign.
