I am giving another talk at this year’s 3rd Annual Sustainable wedding Show coming up on Sunday, April 12th presented by Emerald Hour/sustainable weddings in the pnw . The topic will be: “Floristry, as Nature Intended.”
Making the decision to not use floral foam in your design work will require you to learn new ways of arranging, but the effort is worth it.
Floral foam is not only bad for the environment, but toxic to the people handling it - we the florists. Full of microplastics, floral foam breaks down and gets into the water supply. When handled dry the dust that comes off it is toxic dust that can be inhaled.
In my 45th year of life I have become more mindful in taking care of myself. I am appreciating my body more than I ever have and that means treating it well with wholesome foods, regular exercise, sleep, rest, and keeping it safe from toxins.
As a Wedding and Event Florist using the most beautiful raw materials on earth, I have to be a good steward of Mother Nature and of myself. ❤️
